Shushu Springs Up

Image
My Luts Shushu (almost a decade old now) is usually the first doll I pull out when Spring makes it warm enough to go outside and take photos. This year that meant "May", so the Prairie Buttercups and snowdrops are all done. But the plastic sunflowers bloom all year. :D The clothespin next to her holds a new-to-her dress that might have been on a Tonner before, though it looks handmade. I will have her model it later once her hair is done. She has shoes to go with it! Someone at the Kane County Doll Show had little handmade shoes that fit her perfectly. I've always wondered why Fairyland doesn't carry shoes to fit the Minifee all the time, since Minifee are so popular. Maybe it's a way to get you to buy their fullsets?

Hyacinth With Paint

..And Sicktress sent me another head with the head she painted :o. Lots of sewing will need to happen this summer! New guy (no name yet) Luts Winter 2016 Head Ariolus (needs his eyes tweaked a bit, they are homemade, face by Sicktress): Granado Jupiter Kalypso's new wig from Sicktress <3

Impldoll Deborah/Soom Sweet Witch

Image
I just loved Impldoll's Deborah head, with her cute little teef and bat ears..but I did not love her body. I fiddled around with it by restringing it like a Soom doll , and that helped, but at the same time I never much liked Impl's hands or general body sculpting as much as Soom's, so Chalyss took away the original Star body, and then Marina went to snooze in a box while I waited for the right ws body to show up. It needed to be a newer, post 2015 Soom body because I needed a more Mighty White to match the head. Then I saw that Angela_Valentine had listed a Sweet Witch body on Den of Angels, and it was perfect! Here is the body when I unwrapped it: Soom Sweet Witch Parts So many fun pieces! Marina won't use the fancy feet, tail or hands, but I am glad to have them--the feet with shoes are magical :D Now on the body! I did mess a little with the wings, they are so cute. Like Migma, they have small "hangar" parts you pop in first: Angela se...

ShuShu at Herrick Lake

Image
Kalypso, an old Luts Shushu, is small enough to carry around in public. K actually agreed to be seen in public with me and a doll, so we went to Herrick Lake and took a few pictures, while K experimented with mini-movies. The photo above was right after a faceplant, so Kalypso is looking a little disheveled (I forgot a comb). Here's her sitting on the dock: Sitting on the clover lawn: Looking out at the lake: Next time I am bringing a stand, though she did pretty well on the picnic bench: Then it was too dark for good photos, though I got a few foresty ones: And there was a rabbit, just like home, eating the clover:

Some Test Photos

This is the sword that Akutenshi7 brought back for me from Dollism, with it's fabulous copper hilt. I just need to make a scabbard for it and put a tassel at the top--Coppersmith already has his belt. I spent part of the day familiarizing myself with the new camera, which is 90 percent like the old camera, but with a new, annoying user interface. I ended up going back to the Windows image handler instead because it's a lot cleaner and faster, and it seems to work fine. The new camera can generate larger files, which is nice. I still haven't quite made friends with the macro settings and the camera still struggles with full bright daylight and shadows, but it otherwise seems to be ok so far. The zoom setting is nice--this is a sparrow on top of a huge pile of deco straw at Home Depot, and he's about 10 feet above me here: Here is a couple of macro shots--Shushu was taken before I realized that I had the wrong setting, but she is just in room light, and she isn't ...
