DIY Medical Masks

Image
I'm going to give this a go today--I'd like to make it with a slot on the face side to stuff in a section of vaccum cleaner bag, but the fabric version alone can be tossed in the washer with bleach and reused. I have quite a bit of fabric here and I figured I can run some up and send them to my local hospital because someone can use them, even if it's just the receptionist and cleaning staff. Here's the source: https://twitter.com/MtnMD/status/1240490595056934918 ************************************************************ OK here is a more complete and easier to follow tutorial that I found today: https://buttoncounter.com/2018/01/14/facemask-a-picture-tutorial/ I am making a couple that are a little more fitted, but this is a fast design.

Male Pattern Boldness

He writes a funny blog, but he is an amazing tailor. Check out this post of his "unsuccessful" clothes..but be amazed at the skill involved in sewing them! Also, I would wear this.

Make Your Own Flamenco Dress

Image
Andy sent me a Pinterest page that was mostly in Spanish of lots and lots of patterns, and I spotted this pattern: I said "That's a Flamenco dress!" because of the circles. It would be challenging to make with no directions, but when I clicked on the pin, there was a link to this wonderful page: https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/flamenco-dress With all the instructions! Mind you, I am not wearing it, because I look like this: But I have a couple of dolls that would rock that style!

Harry The Quilting Cat

Image
Harry the Tuxedo cat enjoys quilting, eating snacks and hiding from visiting humans. I got to see him once for about 2 seconds. he's a handsome cat and has good taste in fabric: I think he also helped co-edit (with Randy Dannenfelser) a really excellent book about the art of Richard Hescox, called " The Deceiving Eye: The Art of Richard Hescox ."
