More Perdita, And Her Wig

Image
Here's the Bianca head, with a wig Akutenshi7 made out of mohair. Akutenshi and Francesca came over Saturday, which is why I didn't get around to doing a blog post--we had a lot of fun, which partly consisted of sitting around splitting up doll sized pirate treasure and lace between the three of us, like 1600's buccaneers. I'm hoping to get Perdita painted up on Tuesday when the weather is supposed to warm up to spraying range, and for the moment I have her on a Mirodoll body--right now on the Miro site this body is 81.00 on sale, and the resin is a pretty good match for the Iplehouse head. The neck fit is not great, sadly: (Yes, that is the bottle cap in there) The body size overall is fine with the smallish Bianca head: Right now she also has homemade eyes, as I have not had a chance to go see what Eyeco offers in her style. Aside from Perdita's head showing up in the mail, I also got a tiny telescope from St. Lunatic in Finland, and it actually folds up. ...

AM Watering

Image
Photos don't really capture how great things look at 6 AM with the sprinklers on--I normally would be asleep like a normal person, but we have had a patch of dry weather and I wanted to water early. More random photos: And an early morning Mr. Ropuha Toad:

Random Granado Posting

Image
Most of today was spent A) Cleaning things and B) Having my hair done, which lasted from 1 PM to almost 5 and was a wild ride from start to finish-- including a protracted visit from another stylist who told me all the details of his life, and an intermission where I was left to my own devices while the stylist went for a taco. The start was also delayed by the original stylist going out for more dye, after looking at my head. I have thick hair. I had a bubble tea from a shop two doors down while I waited. However, the end result was totally worth it--it's possibly one of the top ten hair styles/colors I have had in my life. Will buy again.

New Hats and New Eyes

Image
"Merry Christmas, ya animals." Mom made some hats, Jack's and Coppersmith's fit perfectly, but Felicity's tiny head is somewhat cancelled by her fin ears. I'll put up the pic of her tomorrow. In the meantime, Bex's new eyes came today, and fit great. I'm still looking for the perfect wig but I love this color:

Felicia the Mermaid

Image
I received a wonderful (and somewhat undeserved) Christmas present in the form of a rare little Domuya mermaid, one of the last sets of dolls that Domuya made before the company broke up. She is msd sized and a perfect friend for my sailor Jack (Granado Terra). She also has a cute little lower leg fin which I somehow managed to crop out of the photo. I also got Teodor's (Granado Mads) semi-permanent eyes put in, and now like everyone else, he needs clothes!

Cat on the Roof

Image
We had a windstorm Friday and then a leak around the bathroom fan, so J went up on the roof today to patch it. Once he got up there and settled down, I asked him "What do you see?" There was a pause, and then J said "Cat poop." And here is the perp, trying to figure out what J is doing on the roof: And here, probably to see if J is also using the roof as a catbox -.- That is how the cat gets up there, he just climbs the pergola. As well as going to Home Depot, we also went to the Spirit of Halloween, now open. They have Zombie Lawn Jockeys, which I took a surreptitious, blurry photo of here: They also had wigs, but at twice the cost of Party City's wigs..though I almost bought a wig for a Monster High girl costume that was for the Yeti (I forget her name, Abby something :D) that had soft silver fibers mixed with irridescent fibers--but it would have been sad to cut it up and no way am I dressing up as a Monster High girl for Halloween; I am totally a diff...

Flat Bastard

Image
This fine-toothed file had been sitting around in a toolbox belonging to some ancestor of J's, and I discovered it works very well for some doll-related modding. I decided that I needed to shorten the upper side pieces of my Granado Terra's knees. The sides of the knees weren't supported by the kneecap, and the pressure of the elastic was making the sides of the knees bow outwards, and I was concerned that eventually they would crack. So I carefully filed down the sides until there was a hairline gap between the upper and the lower pieces, and the pressure on the thigh was spread across the kneecap instead of the side pieces. Here are the knees now: You can still see a little daylight on the edges of his knees, but that is from the warping from before--they may eventually sit closer to the knee if I put elastic around them, but for now they are ok. Here is the back: And to make up for the indignity of sawing at his knees, I am making him a wig..not that it's the bes...

Blue Tape Breeches and a For Sale

Image
It's a beautiful day and I am supposed to be using that blue tape to mask things on my hall walls. But my Granado Terra's Lack of Pants disturbs me, so here I am making a pattern for some breeches. I also listed a doll for sale, a Dollmore Bella Auden. For a short time...I'm not really sure I want to sell her, but it's crowded in here. The Dollmore body is gorgeous, and Dollmore sells a ton of fun clothes for their models, which is why a great many other dolls in the world are wearing stretchy Dollmore stuff. (Even I have a box full of tights, tops and skirts from Dollmore, all second-hand). Bella, keeping a stiff upper lip:

Granado Terra Arrives!

Image
And I was totally not ready--I thought I would make him some pants this weekend but no, here he is! I did find some eyes that I liked, a ratty wig, and a shirt that fit. Still no pants, though. He's really cute! Size comparison with a Minifee and a Idealian 58 (this was before I found some slightly more dignified things for him to wear)

And he's going to be bald and I don't even know what size eyes he wears! :o
