Random Monday Photos

Image
Sicktress sent me a box of gorgeous clothes! There were so many I haven't even gone through them all, though I did use the back of a cloak that was a matte black to photograph some lace for a 3d project: The lace around the bottom of the skirts is the lace that I scanned :D Anyway, here is an inspiring little jacket modelled by Phoenix Doll Android Mei: I did swap the buttons on the back for smaller ones--the one it came with were beautiful but almost too large to go through the buttonholes. It fits her perfectly--she just needs compatible pants now! Here is Honey in another pretty outfit from the box--those pants! Mermaid pants! So Sicktress has now made many of my dolls much more stylish--thank you SO MUCH! <3

Chitown Dollz..teaser

Image
I will have more tomorrow, I have to clean up and resize the photos I took, and some of them need sharpening and color balancing. In the meantime, Sicktress took a photo of Naomi in her corset and skirt! Here's one photo that Sicktress took... and the colors match!! I had to pick colors blindly because I remembered Naomi's old look-- but I knew that Sicktress was redoing her and I didn't know what her new tatts would look like. Here she is! Tada! If you are on Tumblr you can see the whole set!

Sabby

Image
Soom Gneiss My friend Andy made her a sarong! I like the look on her so much, I may dig through my print stash and make her some more island-style things. I have been busy with a cover and some house cleaning stuff, so I am a little behind on doll stuff. I did get a face on Honey, though! Soom Cass I still need to get her some eyelashes, probably from Mint on Card. I had to shoot some stock for the cover, so if you need a blank sky for something, there is a 3264 by 2448 version of this image for you to use without restrictions (it has a goofball filename because it's tagged to the cover rough I was working on).

Return to the Beadcave, and some Backgrounds

Image
Yes, it's back to JBC beads! Akutenshi07 took this photo, and we spent quite a while there this time, though I still haven't really looked much at the jewelry findings. Mostly I poked through the sale section--I did go specifically to get some tiny swarovski beads, and once I found those, I just picked up things that I will find a use for later: This gives you an idea of what the items on the sale table cost--I paid retail for them (what is on the tags) and they were still cheaper than JoAnns, with a lot of variety. These are all glass, though the ones at the top were possibly garnet--they were a bit more expensive. I also got a cloisonne bead and several tubes of Toho beads. I could buy Toho beads all day ;)                                                                             ...

Bubbles and Roses

Image
So I spent some of the day cleaning floors, which is not newsworthy, but I did find an old photo of Bubbles with the rosebushes (Knockouts, which are not at resistant to black spot as you might think) that were lovely..until the rabbits ate them. Now the rabbits have vanished, and I need to replace two of the bushes. So far the Rugosa (it looks like a Hansa, they weren't sure at the nursery) has done ok, between less rabbits and being amazingly spiny. I have also been out there fluffing and petting it (carefully) so I hope it does well. I also did a trade on Den of Angels for some Heliot Hooves with Loptr and got a little portrait enclosed with the hooves..so cool!

Lelahel Again

Image
Lelahel is very busy right now, getting ready for L Doll in Europe--I had not realized that she was one of the original organizers, but it makes sense, since she has been in the hobby for some time and is organized. The Love Me or Die Beryl (Jeline) up there is modelling a dress that is for sale right now on Lelahel's Etsy , and as Lelahel is living in Lyons it should be no surprise to anyone that this dress is made of Lyonnaise silk (it's long, you should go see it). Anyway, the whole reason I was wandering around stalking Lelahel's various online photos is that she has the Fairyland Chloe I like the best, this lady on Lelahel's Deviant Art Gallery . And I had just sold my Granado Jaden head..so was I an adult? Did I put the money responsibly in my business bank account? Of course not..I went to Den of Angels and bought a Chloe faceplate and headback from someone who had ordered her direct from Fairyland, so Chloe has a COA and a pedigree. I will have to paint Chl...

The Glitter Apocalypse

Image
J and I do the gifts for each other Christmas morning, and then usually hold off opening the other presents from relatives for later, so I can write thank yous at the same time. I had bought a roll of glittered ribbon from Costco thinking it would be great for the two bigger presents I got J, since it was fat, sparkly and on a big spool. And it looked great--but I hadn't thought what would happen if you tie it in a bow and then the recipient pulls it through the loops again to untie it--that neatly scrapes off all the glitter into a cascading pile on the floor, the couch, your hands..everything. I actually took the ribbon off the second one before I handed it to him, but since he had glitter even in his beard, we had to take an intermission so that he could take a shower and I could vaccuum the floor and the couch (I ended up taking the couch cover off entirely to put it in the wash.) There is a trail of glitter out to the trash cans, and on our front steps, and on the keyboard. I...

I Mail Some Eyes, and I Get Some Ears

Image
These are the ears Cat sent me! Cass' shell ears, that no one will part with. (Cat said that her Alice in Labyrinth Chloe wasn't interested in them). So here they are, and I will make Cat some weird little eyes in return. This is the baker's dozen I sent out to Chalyss this morning: They do look a lot better in an eye than out of it. Though I do need to make Claudia new ones--you cant tell here, due to the Miracle of Photoshop, but Claudia's eyes in person have so much glitter they look like LEDs in the sunlight, and it's a bit much. And here Arnold enjoys his new Cat-made blanket on his favorite chair:

Pleione

Image
Pleione is a Soom Cass that I bought from another Den of Angels member-- I think every time one of us moves, we pass dolls around. She came unpainted, and while this faceup is OK, the lower eyelashes could be better. The upper ones are from Mint on Card and I am very happy with them. The Cass mold can look like so many different people-- it's such a beautiful, classic face. I also did her toes: She will have a little teal silk ruffle around her ankles to look sort of finny, and to match her arms: Her wig is temporary until I can find a two-toned pink and blue one, or make one. One of the cool things about her, is Arekushia (her previous owner) got her box autographed at Doll North for me (!) The box reminds me of the sky this evening: The cat also sat and watched me string her most of the day (Pleione is now all wired and sueded, and stands unaided) I'm so happy to have her! One last bonus cloud pic:

Bubbles Gets A Staff

Image
The amazingly talented Sicktress sent me this gorgeous, sparkle encrusted staff for my Soom Cass, Bubbles! I have no idea how Sicktress knew the perfect color combination plus the correct height, but it's perfect! I am not worthy... Here is more: "See? SPARKLES!" "How did she get the kelp in there? "

Minerva's Maris

Image
Minerva, who is Aelfric's former owner, has been busy painting and sewing for her Soom Cass, and Maris is looking Mighty Fine. Eighty hours of beading can do a lot for a mermaid's wardrobe! To see the rest of Maris the Magnificent, go to Minerva's Deviant Art gallery: http:/tealmermaid.deviantart.com/

Bubbles Models the Ersa Flora Eyes

Image
Those are her new eyes to keep; they are one of the "opal style" ones that Shelly makes, and they are beautiful! I also had Bubbles (who is a Soom Cass, and normally would wear a size 14mm eye) try out the 16mm pink glitter eyes. These will either go in Merry Cherie or my Dollmore goth girl, though my alien Roswell might look cute with them as well. I love these eyes! (The doll that will get the circuit eyes isn't here yet, so no photos yet of her.)

Dollie Knitting

Image
This Soom Cass is wearing a sweater knitted by "Lynn" who keeps a tiny knitting blog, also on Blogger, here: http://dolly-rocket.blogspot.com ZOMG so many little, little knitted things!

Cat's Crown 3

Image
Just a couple of photos today, since I had other things (like work) I had to do today. Above is Bubbles the Soom Cass again, this time with party lights. And then there is Serendipity, who was a Free Choice Galena head with a Beryl body, and I still need to paint her hooves. And make clothes--though hooves solve the shoe problem, they also make pants/trousers problematic. And finally Moonlight, a lavender Soom Migma head and hands on an Impldoll white skin body--I decided I would make do with the Impl body, and in fact, I like the thinner, spikier look of the body--it suits a "bramble fairy." Moonlight is a cousin of Dust Fairy Sirocco. (I have no idea what I will do if Soom releases the Migma head in tan!) I still need to paint the neck and wrists of the Impl body to ease the transition in colors. More tomorrow!
