Wolpertinger and a Sea Nymph

Image
This is Soom's Northerly Breeze, a redoing of their White Rabbit back when Alice and her friends were the theme of the monthly dolls. I thought he was nice when he came, but I don't feel as attached to him as I do my Granado guys--possibly because I just bought him because I thought he was cute, rather than having much of a theme for him. But he's sort of grown on me, blue eyeshadow and all. I do think he's going to be the last Soom boy I buy--I've ended up selling all of them except for Tremo and the Sphaler brothers, and Soom seems to be struggling a bit right now anyway--someone on Den of Angels thought they might have just gotten much more popular in China, and are a little overextended. So it's probably a good time to just work on the dolls that are here and in the pipeline. I've gotten a start on the DIY mermaid, since I decided I'd rather do my own Sea Nymph rather than hope that a company will make her the way I want. She'll end up looking...

Swag from the Doll Meet

My big purchase was two handmade mohair wigs from Akutenshi7. The first one was for Gemma, since she has been sharing a wig with another doll and no one should have to share their hair. The second wig is for a doll that is still in progress and I want to finish her completely before I take pics, but I did want to share her gorgeous wig: I really wanted a mohair wig for this girl since her hair needs to be able to be pinned up for different outfits. So pretty! Then there was a raft of other deals that I found: Two of these were from Akutenshi, though--a cravat that she bought for my guys (I think one of the Victorians, Josiah Aldwood, will get an outfit to match the cravat), and a chair. A 5.00 chair. I was very excited about the chair because they cost the earth to buy through the mail or ebay because of the shipping, and this one was a perfect size for Coppersmith. Here he is using the chair and passing around a bottle (a tiny Wheaton bottle with Ben Franklin on it, so it's a...

Soom Northerly Breeze here :D

I was so happy..he came in a box, even though he was a kit! (usually the kits are just loose in the outer shipper, but the outer boxes often get trashed en route, so I had bought, along with the Bunny Man, a soft zip bag-- and asked if maybe his parts could be stuffed in it.) Instead Soom went even better, and sent it all like this, safe and sound: I got both sets of hands, all the magnets and the horns exactly as requested, and Gideons' white wig--the wig is one of the ones on the front page, they are big (ID in the prefix is Idealian, one size up from the size 8 supergems). The white one is translucent enough that the cap shows through, but I expected that and Gideon is getting feathers put in there anyway, so it doesn't matter. The red and brown versions of this wig are gorgeous,I think I have ..like..4 of the red ones. The hair is a little slick and stiff and stays neat. Mr. Bun, on the other hand, is wearing a messy Panda by Monique. He still looks cute: The Soom eyes...

Just a quick photo as I have a lot to do today. The Soom White Rabbit/Jackalope/ Northerly Breeze is up, in kit form too , and I found out that Chrome works much better than Firefox on the Soom site--for one thing, the Q and A shows up!
