Iplehouse Size Comparison

Image
There is of course much better photos on the Iplehouse site, where they have a lineup of everyone from EID to BID. But here is a Female EID (Hyacinth the Barbarian), an SID Female (Claudia the Conjuror), an SID Male (Bryan Kim, wearing a borrowed wig), and a NYID (Moth). Hyacinth would be a little taller but she is on the old body and tends to stand on her shins, as she falls off her feet. (So embarassing). Also Bryan is extremely loose, so he's got his rear against the backdrop to prop himself up. But you can see that these sizes work pretty well together. Here Claudia says to Hyacinth "Remember that ring the Bey of Maghara used to smite his enemies with lightning? It's in my pocket."

Iplehouse Aria

Back when I started getting interested in these dolls, in 2007, Iplehouse came out with a full set of a 60 cm girl called Harin (the "Red Harin" set), who had a fabulous gown and wig and other trailing ornaments, and I wanted her sooo much before I came to my senses and told myself it was mostly the ornaments and costume (and the tiny shoes!) that I loved. But Harin herself was a cutie, with her little smile, and I almost bought her again in 2009 when she briefly showed up on the Den of Angels Marketplace. But she is so short now..60 cm, and most of my girls are 65, and Iplehouse's sculptors have gotten so much more sophisticated..so I didn't buy her. (BTW Harin had a slightly derpy sister called Freezia in an even more glorious pink and purple outfit, but I never could take Freezia seriously: (OK, now I think Freezia is sort of cute in a daffy way). Anyway, Iplehouse has now come out with a new Senior Iplehouse Doll that is 65 cm and looks a lot like a more deta...

Measuring Denzel

Image
Ok, it looks like a science thing-- but my measuring tape has a 1cm metal tab on the end, plus it has my name written in marker over the centimeter side because in the US, who sews with centimeters? Now of course, I need to go get a narrow cm measuring tape so I can sew for dolls. Anyway, I figured a picture would be better so that people could see where I was measuring. I would still take these numbers with a grain of salt, and use a muslin to create your pattern first. The tape draped over his shoulder starts noplace--it was just so that if someone wanted scale, there would be something there. The 15 cm mark is exactly on his shoulder seam, though. His wrists are around 7cm, the mobility joint line is about 18.5 cm around.
