Jimmy Thomas Conquers the Romance Novel Cover Market

No, this isn't Jimmy Thomas , but a new model of his for a series of "solo women covers". He started out as a model for romance novel covers, then started to take pix of himself in costumes for covers, then rounded up some friends to do layouts and new poses, and then do pretty much finished covers: Before the only thing that was lacking, was more gothy and yes, solo women covers, but he's got that covered now. So this is your small-publisher-one stop shopping place... for really nice covers. It explains why no one has called me for about 2 years, but since they paid peanuts and made me do type, I am perfectly happy to let Jimmy take the wheel and do the thing. He's also a sweet guy (you can meet him in person if you go to romance novel conventions). He also used to run the website, which may explain it's some what awkward cart and convoluted layout. No worries, if you get stuck, he'll help you out! Also, if you just need artist pose/figure refs ...

Jimmy Thomas, birthday boy

You might not recognize the name, but the chances are if you read romance novels, you have seen him. A LOT of him. He's the guy selling his photos for cheap..uh...highly affordable romance novel covers. And I should be annoyed with him, but he comes across as such a cheery, chirpy entrepreneur, how can you hate him? For example, in the spam email he sent me today: (First of all, he is having a birthday sale of photos on his site) ... I will be temporarily coloring my hair blonde and/or Nordic white, and wearing matching hair extensions for the first 2 Viking shoots, where I will also be doing various RNC Viking, Renaissance, Regency, Cowboy and Contemporary sets with the blonde hair, with and without the extensions. ... March 29-31 I'll be in Dallas to give my workshop at the RWA Conference. ... I haven't shot in a while due to my crazy schedule and a shoulder injury in December/January, so I have all my body hair and will also be doing some shoots showing it - if you ...

Isabel's Aww

This cover is 90% done--I still have to clean up her hand and some of the edges of both of their hair, but the story sounds adorable (Rock Star meets Girl Next Door). Plus there is a cat--originally I left room for the cat's head center front, but it was decided that the cat was not necessary to anyone's happiness. This (below) was the first layout I did, but apparently "script" fonts are Old and Busted, even when the font is titled "Romance", so things were reworked and rearranged to comply with the tyranny of Smart Phone screens. I think the current version looks a little like a Valentine's card now. And a lot more of those roses are hand painted than you would guess, though a lot of the models were the Costco roses in earlier posts.
