Search Terms: Catfish

Image
This charming "Catfish" is by Lisa Falkenstern (you can get prints here of it).  I can sometimes see what search terms bring people to this blog, and it is not dolls, as you might guess--it is "Hobbits", "Quokka" and "Catfish". Go figure. So here are a couple of random catfish, plus some random other pics, to prop up my stats ;) This is a big catfish. Not as big as it looks here, but bigger than you might really want--it's an Italian Catfish apparently. YouTube video here . Fisherman is saying "A little help here, please, instead of Instagramming?" A repost of my favorite catfish, stolen off the Internet: And here is just a cat, trying to ignore the firecrackers all over the neighborhood: The sunset on Saturday, after a day of pyrotechnics (fireworks in Chicago are an all-weekend affair) And one more: Have a happy (and safe) 4th of July!

How Big Do Catfish Get?

Image
The answer is "bigger than you would like." I can see what search terms people type in to get to this blog, and the terms usually are completely random and often very funny: "sexy robot girls" was one of my favorites. Alas, I have very few cyborg cuties to show off; I wish I had more! Anyway, the "we are going to need a bigger net" catfish shown above was lifted from interviewangel.com , though I am sure it came originally from a fishing blog. If you ever need to find the original source for an image, google can help you dig it up--left click on the image and select "copy image location" then open a new tab, and put the long URL of the image into Google. Google will take you to a page where it will tell you to Search Images instead, so click on that link and Google will display all the instances of that image on the Net for you it can find. Look for the largest version of that image, and skip, if you can, stinky aggregator sites like Pintere...

Random Catfish

I am still having the door worked on today so I haven't gotten much else done. It's not like Tony needs supervision, but since he occasionally has questions I have to sort of hover without hovering. I read a lot of Internets yesterday. For example, catfish get big: You can also keep small ones in the bathtub, though I think here you see two incompatible pets: Meanwhile, in Canada: (Selkirk, Manitoba). And here are my favorite fish cats:

Butter Pecan Walleye

Image
Culver's fish combos are always the best :) J thought that you could actually make a good butter pecan walleye dinner, but the s'mores were pretty hopeless...they were like the Catfish Beignets of our New Orleans trip. Back in 1996 or so J went on a business trip to NOLA, and I went too. I spent 8am -5pm wandering around window shopping, eating and talking to people, and went to a cafe in Jackson Square famous for it's Beignets, which is sort of a giant puff pastry donut. They come with powdered sugar and a choice of stuffings. A plaque on the wall said CATFISH-BEIGNETS. I asked the waitress if that really was an option, and she said they would make it if I wanted it. :D
