The Cat Lady Trailer

Image
So I admit I have been a lazy person when it came to updating the blog, but I have been doing a lot of things on the computer (all day!) learning modelling and retexturing and making stuff and deleting it. I've also been sick, so I have been napping more than usual--though compared to most people, I've been very lucky. Anyway, the model (by Meshbox) above was on sale at Renderosity and I had Company Store Credit (always dangerous) so I bought it. It is full of cat toys and frightening yet cute wallpaper. This is the inside: Yes, that is a cat scratching post AND not shown are the 3 stuffed mice laying around. It's a low poly model; so I was able to add a ton of things to the scene, like the cats shown above, which are suprisingly complicated models. And because I can't leave anything alone, I retextured the trailer somewhat in several new colors: It should show up in the Renderosity Free Stuff next week, unless there is a problem I missed. Of course my files are an ad...

Random Photos and Renders

Image
So I am not dead, just busy doing renders for Renderosity with their new version of Poser 11--the render above is "SOS" because the new male figure (barely visible on the left) has almost nothing for clothes yet as he is Brand New and a morph of Renderosity's new female character La Femme. So he actually fits her clothes and they don't look bad, just undignified. L'Homme does have some fun new characters and surface textures, though, including this guy by 3Dream: I also spent hours and hours moving over old Poser models (the laundromat above was one of them that I forgot I had) and trying to reassemble them in Poser 11. Most of the simpler textures still work in the new renderer, but not all, and some of the files I bought from Daz years ago have the geometry missing or hidden, though they work in Daz Studio still. (Glares at Daz). That said, I am also learning how to use Image Based Lighting in Daz and making my own light probes. And rendering a new charac...

Digital Doll

I spent some time yesterday fooling around with face shapes on Poser's new default model, La Femme. I have trouble with her hands, but her head is a lot of fun. The skin was a RPublishing product called Alethea: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/lf-alethea-for-la-femme/139173 And the dress was also purchased there, as was the crystal . The crystal actually loads as large as she is, which I thought was a bit much :D I'm going to waste more time tomorrow playing with her!

Ran gets a dress, and Poser Paul gets Lacrimals

Image
It's a knitted scarf that I got from the Salvation Army..and it is so perfect! I'd like to make her some props, and perhaps a set of jewelry, but right now I am doing Poser tutorials every morning. There is a lot to learn!  I did finish my current guinea pig, Paul--I had to hand-paint in his lacrimals, he just didn't have any and it looked..strange. I also mowed, and gloated over my pumpkin. It is still very green, but now small pumpkin-sized!

Tomatoes and Pauline

Image
Yes, it's the end of summer, and I am trying to get everything ready for winter, which includes getting rid of all the tomatoes we successfully grew this year. We are only planting cherry tomatoes next year. I tried to give some to a neighbor up the street and he said "Dear God, no." The wet weather means everyone has bumper crops of everything; and of course we all planted more or less the same stuff.  Because of the yard work, I haven't had time to be on line as much...at least, to do anything but read  Poser tutorials, since I now have Poser 11... and everything is different. Some things are a lot better in this version, but others are strange and new. I do like the new Poser dollie, Pauline, that everyone else hates, because she does need to be customized to look the way you want, and it's not obvious how to do that at first--she has control handles in her face, which is really weird and really easy to use once you figure out what they are and w...
