Negative 18F is pretty tiresome. We had to replace the outside faucet, and everything in the house creaks from whatever tiny amounts of ice were in the boards. It was business as usual for the birds, though: Cat mode when it's cold: Even better: Then it warmed up, and we had an amazing ice storm: It's hard to tell, but everything has a layer of ice on it..then the wind blew and the ice shakes off, and makes noises like someone throwing ice on the roof--big cubes of it. The roof is looking like it needs to be replaced soon, which I am not looking forward to, since today the hot water heater decided it was old enough to have the thermostat quit. It's always something, it's just less easy in the winter. Ice chunks. A few were 6 inches long. I'm very happy the cars can both fit in the garage for times like this. I'm ready for it!

It's cold here! But it's a dry cold. We did break another outside pipe, which will have to be replaced when Spring rolls around, and had to replace another gfic outside plug, but otherwise it's been OK. I did try to take photos last night when the ice first formed,but they were blurry from not enough light: That is the moon back there :D I did get sort of a partial eclipse photo, again blurry from being hand held, and it was around 4 degrees so I didn't feel like standing around: A rare double moon :D Since I have had The Cold, I have been going through pillowcases--I thought of buying more but they are fairly expensive, so I took some stretchy polyester that I bought from fabric.com and made a slightly oversized, stretchy pillowcase that I can wash easily. And it's super soft without the fuzziness of a flannel pillowcase : It matches none of my sheets, but at this point I don't care. The lights are off at night anyway.

It's a pretty good batch! The Marien is particularily nice, she has the special body with the engraved "tattoo", and that SID body is so pretty. Doria and I never really warmed up to each other, but she is beautiful! Akutenshi won one of the previous auctions! She got a Leonard and he is just gorgeous "at home"--and she saved a bundle. A good thing, because he now needs clothes ;) I have been distracted from dollies--the dishwasher has joined the general plumbing dysfunction and will need to be replaced..eventually. I still need to pay off the plumber from our New Year's Exploding Pipe Party. :o I can't complain though--Cat in Long Island was boiling snow to get coffee--they are all iced up.
