These came today from CandyWorld on Etsy ! They went out on the 8th, so it was a little over two weeks to arrive--not bad for a little packet from Poland that had to go through customs! They are fairly low dome and very bright--I haven't decided who gets them yet (the "temporary" sculpey ones I made were actually good enough I have been leaving them in.) Magda has a whole bunch of new eyes in now, you should take a look--her prices are reasonable, too. Yesterday we went on a nature hike at Herrick Lake--normally we just walk around the lake, but there are long trails that go back into the forest. We chose poorly though, and went on one that borders the local golf course-- so it wasn't all that scenic, even if it was good exercise. We came back to the lake and I took a few photos as the sun was setting: You can see the first hint of gold in the trees. It's starting to feel like fall. There was a giant moth in the shop, too, probably looking for...

Just pix today--I cleaned windows and read a Charlaine Harris book (Midnight, Texas), and went in the evening with J to Herrick Lake. Aside from that, not much got done :D

When Akutenshi came over, she brought a little flower from a larger bouquet; some local florist makes "Mermaid tails" by flattening and snipping some flowers (I don't know the variety at all). It looks so cool! We also went Friday night to Herrick Lake, and the lake in August would be very enjoyable if it wasn't for the sudden arrival of huge numbers of very hungry mosquitoes. I even had Repel on and a long sleeved shirt with a high collar and they were still a pest. Here is the lake. I think no wind was making the mosquito problem worse, but it was pretty: You can't see it in the above photo, but there were sundogs from the ice crystals in the clouds: Some wildflowers: I've only seen these seed pods later in the season--they turn brown, split open and are full of fluff. Kalypso, an old Luts Shushu, is small enough to carry around in public. K actually agreed to be seen in public with me and a doll, so we went to Herrick Lake and took a few pictures, while K experimented with mini-movies. The photo above was right after a faceplant, so Kalypso is looking a little disheveled (I forgot a comb). Right now Herrick Lake's outflow has a lot of duckweed. The frogs seem to like it: There are also some really large snapping turtles--you have to look hard, but this turtle was huge--maybe a foot across (at least) Today we met Akutenshi7 at the Kane County Flea Market, and as usual there was too much stuff to see all of it. Also the guy who got 5.00 out of me for a Catty Noir not-in-box got another 5 from me for a tiny Tiffany spoon (but it is doll sized). Here i something I did not buy and I faintly regret it: I have no idea what they were asking for it. I also could have bought a totem pole: It would have been a long walk to the car. This is what I did buy, not counting the food, there were more apples-- but they were eaten. It's all small stuff that would fit in my purse. (J bought a plane for woodworking but it wasn't huge either) And in the category of huge things you can buy, they have this at Costco: SInce it's Costco, when they say giant, they mean it: ...
