Snow White is back at Soom

Image
She comes in pinky-white and Normal (the color in the photo above) and she is anime-cute; I would be tempted but I don't think Ashley would share her clothes at all :D She's sort of vaguely styled as a Huntsman..a demon hunter? I have no idea, but you have a choice of the open eye or romantic eye versions: When Snow White first came out, people complained that her head was "too small". Her head IS small, but the new SG body is slim, and once you put a wig on her she looks fine. I think her make up is so cute.  I wish I had managed to find her horns and hooves when she was first introduced, but I am not sure I would have ended up using them. This release comes with built in, very cute shoe feets: I found the old Vesuvia shoe feet really hard to pose in, (because of the weight of the tail) but the Cuprit shoe feet were fine for some reason. If you choose to keep her in the shoe feet, a little wire in the legs down through the ankles helps stabilize them for...

Bonnie's Haul from the Chitown Dolls Doll Meet

Image
So Miss Bonnie went to the Sunday meetup in an outfit that was going to be a cat costume, but didn't get finished..and she came home with not only a new outfit by Akutenshi, but Akutenshi gave her a little rainbow alpaca that matched the dress! That alpaca is just squeeably cute, and Bonnie's arm goes around it perfectly. It looks like she needed a good pet. At the doll meet I also found a Tupperware full of cute Yo SD dresses, which were designed to fit Volk's smallest dolls (here's a cute Volks YoSD from the show:) I think Bonnie's shoulders might be a tiny bit wider, but they are really close in size, so the ones for sale looked like they would fit. And they were marked at 4.00 for each set! I was so excited, the clothes were so cute. (This dress  had a matching little red sweater, too) (She has a pair of shoes now!) That hat has an apple stem :D All so cute, but my favorite is still the one by Akutenshi. :) Some of my other ...

Ashley, a Rock, and a Spider

Image
I made Ashley a necklace today--I always forget just how small these dolls really are, so maybe this should be a belt instead. I still have dolls to paint, but it rained much of today and the temperature has dropped, so I will have to wait for my chance to spray. Meanwhile lots of people need clothes, and here I am making things for Ashley, who has an entire giant box of clothing and shoes :D I also found a piece of polished jasper (at least I think it is jasper) that is the same color and style as the weird volcanic rock I have, but much much smoother. Here they are together: This was the last bit of sunshine all day, too! I did look out the kitchen window this morning and discovered that I have one more hanging ornament, but this one is on the outside of the window: This ornament has legs! :o It's one of those gold banded garden spiders; it's made an elegant web across most of the window so I need to start getting up early and see if I can catch it covered w...

Soom Male and Soom Female Together

Image
The heads are not Soom--I think the Soom male body here is the newer one but not the 2016 body, because his ankles are bigger than the slimmer 2016. He is 68 cm tall with an IOS G head.  She is 64 cm tall with a Souldoll Shiva head, and I am not quite confident of the size because Ashley (Soom Snow White) is 62cm without her HUGE wig :D I think it's because the Shiva head is both larger and the head sits on top of the neck, instead of having it fit inside the head. Here's Ashley and Rain: I think Ashley does not approve of photos without wigs. I had an new Ebay outfit for her that I think Beachgirlnikita made originally--it was from an estate sale and I couldn't just let it sit there, and it was so perfect for Ashley..and inexpensive! It's one of those catsuits in "burnout" stretch velvet: It started to rain while I was taking this-- and Ashley I am sure was thinking OMG DUDE RAIN so I took her inside for the second photo: That is a rose hip...

Ashley's Big Hair

Image
Ashley (Soom Snow White) has kind of a small head, so she compensates with Big Hair. Although I still have the sinus crud, I managed to do a few doll things this weekend. I suppose I should actually go see the doc on Monday and ask for eyedrops, as the goo has gotten into the tear ducts.  Flu in the summer is a drag, I tell you--it does not mix well with pollen. I'm so grateful for air conditioning and filters!

Ashley Goes For A Walk

Image
I bought a Dollmore doll body from Solen on Den of Angels (a very nice transaction) and she included this adorable stretch dress and bolero as a gift! Though it's sized for the larger Dollmore body, like most Dollmore clothes it has a lot of stretch so you can fit it on lots of people. Including Ashley, my pyromancer (a Soom Snow White). So just for fun, I did a mini-photoshoot yesterday afternoon before the thunderstorms came in. After the winter, it's soooo green! All the rain has made the weeds lush. Most of my weeds are interesting and fun (though there is some poison sumac mixed in there--I have to keep an eye out for "leaves of three" when I weed). Here are some New England Asters. (I would buy these): Where I have some rotting timbers, I have this low creeper--maybe Spurge? I have some black raspberries that should be ripe in just a couple of days, so I will have something to put on my cereal. They look good now, but they aren't ripe...

Just a blast from the past...

Image
Just Ashley, my Soom Snow white...I don't usually like gray dolls, but here I am with a three that I just love (four if you count swapping heads)--Ashley, My once-purple Migmas, Isa the second Deesse by Sicktress, and the gray Beryl. That Soom body is the perfect size and so posable with the thigh mobility joint. I have 2 covers due for Edge Tesseract, so I have to not do dolls for a couple of weeks--I realized today that I have done a LOT of covers for ET, and they are not bad! Edge has some very nice covers not by me, so I am in great company. I also found this funny filter version of a cover I did for a novella by Linda Williams (part of the Okal Rel universe), and while it looks goofy, I like the circle design of it a lot--and chewing with the filter let me concentrate on the composition rather than the details. It's easier on the eyes than squinting, too :D Here is the final: I should be doing more YA novels--it's kind of my natural style.

Sicktress/Miro new body part 2!

Image
Sicktress' Mirodoll Muscle Body Part One ------ Okay, today I redid the string so it has the knot in the torso, and not coming out of the neck, and I investigated some clothes. The pants she is wearing are from doll.i.com according to the tag, and they fit perfectly. She is more or less SID sized, though it looks like she can wear those older Delf boy pants. I think her shoulders are a little wider, though. The shirt she has on used to belong to a bear, so it doesn't count, but EID shirts fit her fine, though a little loose in the waist. She actually has the PERFECT body for corsets, and though I hadn't thought of a snow goddess wearing an 18th century corset, I think I will make her one anyway. I think her shoes are somewhat similar to the Soom male feet in size--it's a pretty sculpt, one of my favorites out of the other girls I will put up here for comparison. This is with Ashley, a Soom Snow White, on the body. Soom's gray is a lot warmer and more br...

Ashley's Curlers

Image
So here is Ashley, a Soom Snow White and my local pyromancer. I love her big red wig, but it's gotten a bit flat from first wearing a hat, and then, I am embarassed to say, having a pair of her upstairs shelf neighbor's feet planted on her head (so rude). So I wanted to give it a bit of curl again. I made some curlers out of rolled paper: And then I found some very small bobby pins (I think they came from Target): Then I got my fingertips wet and sort of petted the water into her hair (I didn't want to get it too wet or spray it, which probably is how it should be done). Then I rolled a "curler" in and put a bobby pin through it: (That awesome fabric used to be a dress of Chalyss'; she sent me so many incredible things a while back, I am still working my way through them). More curlers: Ashley is able to hold a couple of the curlers (dry ones) with her Resinsoul hands . I love those things. After about 20 minutes I had the top of her head ...

Swapping Flat Feet For Heel Feet (Soom Super Gems)

Image
Ashley (a Super Gem Snow White on the 2012 body) needed to be switched to flat feet so she can stand in a small corner of the doll closet on her flat feet--I am out of room for her to sit. :o  It's fairly easy to swap feet, but a second pair of hands helps a lot, especially if your doll is strung tightly (Ashley is not). Here's the elastic going up into the ankle and foot: I use a crochet hook and a ribbon--the ribbon is 1/4 inch Offray Satin and is incredibly strong. It's a little stiff, too; which helps get it down long pieces like the thighs and calves when necessary. I like a 2 foot length of it for stringing, today I have a little leftover piece from something because I am too lazy to go look for the spool. Here is the crochet hook put through the elastic at the ankle: It's important to put the hook (or chopstick) there and not through the ankle ball, because you need to be able to take the ankle ball off. Here is how the string is held on at the foot-...
