Wigs and Weigela

Image
Yes, it's another ounce of the suri alpaca, and it's creator...I don't really know what to do with these adorable photos--I can't throw them away, they are too cute. The hair in this pack is a lot less flyaway and holds together better than the white, for some reason.  I am still working with the white. I had enough to make an entire size 8 wig and there is still a lot left over--I think I will try felting the rest over a net base and make a small fairylike "waistcoat" out of the remainder. But the wig I am working on still needs a bit more strands on top to cover the felted base, and then some little tiny paper flowers where the blue is stitched in. The base is a small-mesh nylon net and will need some hot glue applied to the inside so the whole wig won't slide off, since there is no elastic. (You can see on the left that there is still a lot of alpaca remaining to be used) Today activity was mostly yard work; and my weigela is blooming. ...

The Thrift Store

Image
(These actually came from Ross, which I also went to today to look for cheap placemats). I went to the Salvation Army, and while I prefer the secular Goodwill, I have to say the local Sally Ann has it going on. I found this: I'm going to carefully recut it to open in the front like a vest, line the opening and do some small repairs, and then send it to K to wear for gallery openings. It's a full set--the pants were a bit damaged but I am going to pick them apart and use them for a pattern, because they look like a historic design and worth saving on paper (the set is modern and handmade). All this for 6.00. I also got a shipping notice from Iplehouse for a doll I ordered...last Monday. I am so not ready, so I sat down this evening and cut up a nightgown that had developed a tear under the sleeve, and made the incoming Doria a tiny chemise: I thought I had 3 months! Anyway, here is a random bit of wallpaper of daylilies, taken when I was photographing the salwar kameez: A...

I wanted a new wallpaper for my own larger monitor, so here is a TieraZon-created fractal: "Jewels and Chiffon" Wallpaper 1280x960 And here is another photo wallpaper from a carousel at the Aurora Mall that has a fun ocean theme (you can ride a seal, too). Aurora Carousel Wallpaper 1200x900

Wallpaper, stock and Conquered Gummi Vitamins

Image
For some reason, the child-proof lids on the gummy vitamins stick after a couple of week's use, and my fix before was to throw away the cap and stuff a wad of paper in the jar, which wasn't very satisfactory, and then taking the gummys out and putting them in a baggie, and putting them in the fridge so the mice wouldn't eat them. This made the gummys very, very chewy. So I took a good look at the lid's two sections and realized that with some prying with needle-nose pliers, I could get the outer lid off and keep the threaded inner lid. I'm sure children all over the nation have already figured this out. And it's time for some fall wallpaper--here is the small version of the tree in my neighbor's yard: And here is the link to the full version: FallLeafTree Wallpaper 1200x900 And a second one of my grape arbor: Grape Arbor 1200x900 And more stock roses, pink ones: And the link: Free Pink Stock Roses 3456x2592

Lightning (video)

Image
(I don't have any lighting photos of my own, so you will have to make do with the fractal above (made with an old program called Tiera-Zon). Wallpaper size is here: Night Forest Fractal 1200x900 And here is the lightning video; it takes a few seconds to load, (press the start button) and all the action is in the first 5 or six seconds of running time--it's such a high speed movie that the return strike just sits there for the full 33 seconds: 33 second lightning strike

Cantigny Wallpaper

Image
On Saturday we went to Cantigny again--it wasn't quite as hot and there had even been some rain in the morning, so we thought maybe there would be flowers in bloom. And there were--as well as another wedding. I could have bagged another bride photo if I hadn't had a can of Pellegrino (Limonata) in one hand when I spotted her. Next time I will be more alert. Anyway, free wallpaper of the flowers (echinacea?) above is here: Echinacea 1200x900 here Here are some more: Mixed Border Wallpaper 1200x900 here Water Lily Wallpaper 1200x900 here Zinnia Wallpaper 1200x900 here (I think they were zinnias). If you don't like flowers, Cantigny also has a fountain you can play in, as long as you don't wear a bathing suit (?):

"Winter" Wallpaper

Image
Since it's hot, I thought it would be nice to have something cool to look at...this is just a doodle of "Winter", my Soom Cuprit and a lot of photoshop, including John Knoll's best Lens Flare. Big version is here--kind of a weird size so you may need to crop it or shrink it a little: Winter Wallpaper Here 1200x922

Spring Wallpaper

Image
If you click you will get the "big" version. This one leaves room for icons on the sides :) And look! A Migma in matching colors! I love how different they all look! http://www.flickr.com/photos/57213153@N07/6988093193/in/photostream

Seeds Wallpaper

Image
(Click for full size--it's 1220 pixels across, which fits my monitor but you may need to "center" it to fit.) A good place to hide icons. ;)

Bee wallpaper

Image
For no reason except I like it. If you "Center" it, it should leave a margin for your icons. (Click for full version).
