iDyePoly Again

Image
I was determined to get Danu (Sicktress' Deesse head) onto a matching color body that wasn't peeling (the acrylic paint was just coming right off again), and my last attempts at dyeing this body on the barbeque side burner weren't too successful. So I bought a packet of iDyePoly brown: No mess... hah.  This time I did several things right--I did it on a nice day with the windows open, I scrubbed all the pieces clean, I got a bigger pot than the previous attempt , I put the pieces on stiff wire to keep track of them in the pot, and I put a project china bowl in the bottom of the pot to keep the pieces from direct contact with the bottom of the pot, where the fire was--and I stirred the pot for all thirty minutes the pieces were submerged, just like I was making some kind of bizzare custard, with the flames on low and the pot not quite boiling. Here is the pot: The spoon was a loss--the iPoly packet tells you not to use things you will be cooking with later, (t...

The Dye Bath

Image
Sunday got off to a rocky start--we were out of milk and bread, it was supposed to storm, and I had to drive to Target in the truck since it was in the accessible slot in the garage and had AC. This was at an hour when I am not really qualified to run a toaster, much less a motor vehicle; but I got there OK, got my stuff, and even managed to resist the lure of 4.00 coffee in order to go home and make my own.  Then the storm veered off somewhere else, and it was sunny, so I decided to both dremel down the top of a body to fit Deesse/Danu's head on it, and to try using the iPoly dye to dye that junk body. ( The junk body was the former Headless Laurel, but Laurel has a head now, but it is now on a Loongsoul Cartoon Boob body, which is actually a lovely, beautifully posing body even if it looks like Hugh Hefner designed it) ("Was this really necessary?") But Laurel, look how well the resin matches AND you have joined fingers now. I did the dremelling first, and it...

Mirodoll Iris in Chocolate Brown

Image
No, that is not Iris, that is the cute omake that Mirodoll sent along with the Iris! To see the full Iris (Not safe for work) go here: http://gypsyreggae.com/blogstuff2016/May2016/mirofull.jpg The head on the table shows the color better than the standing body--it's like the Withdoll Rosy brown, it's a cool brown rather than a warm brown.  http://gypsyreggae.com/blogstuff2016/May2016/mirofull2.jpg  I had bought the body thinking it would take Deesse's head, but the body is actually a little too slim and the neck too thin for my liking--Danu (Deesse) is also a much warmer brown, so I think I will use an Impldoll Idol for her and just modify the neck to fit her. Here is Danu on the Miro body: However, that cool grey brown was just about right for my other problem girl--my Soom Epidia (Consuelo) was a pretty fair match, and the body shape and style was what I have been looking for to put her head on: Consuelo is also now taller than Captain Aldwood, which proba...

Deesse Head on a Granado Nuevo Body

Image
It's not bad, but Dee has a BIG head so you need to be aware that you are getting more of the Luts aesthetic with a larger head/smaller body, especially with a wig. I like the Impldoll Idol better, even with having to modify the neck a bit smaller, and I am waiting on an inexpensive Mirodoll body that I am hoping will match in color. Once I receive that, I will post it up here. Both Venus and Deesse here were painted by Sicktress.

Sickress' Deesse

Image
Sicktress finished up her artist's head, primered it, and sent it off to Harucasting to be cast up, and we had the fun of seeing Deesse go into, and come out of, the mold! Harucasting's Tumblr is so much fun. :D Sicktress did a small set of 10, and I was very fortunate to be able to get one. Even better, Sicktress painted mine! My head is a Celtic goddess, so Sicktress put a little Celtic triskele on her. Not surprisingly, Danu looks amazing in green. My only problem is that the Impldoll Idol body I was going to put her on  has a neck slightly too large to take Deesse's head. And it also really belongs to Erzulie; but I was hoping they could share.  So I looked around to test sizes, and the next best thing (though the wrong color) was a junky Soom body that I have as a spare; so I did a small photoshoot with that today: I think she's gorgeous--I just need to get in a 70 cm Mirodoll girl body--it still will need a bit of color adjusting, but it will be in a d...
