Cyber Dresses

Image
Pixeluna and Shadownet, my talented Renderosity friends, just finished a new clothing model for Daz's Genesis 8 figure. It can be animated, so they named it Soft Winds-- as the drape can blow around if you want it to. I have had a lot of fun making an add-on set for it, since I learned how to make things glow in Daz Studio! The trick is to put your grayscale mask in the slot next to the Emission slider, and then change the Luminance Units from the default to the MUCH BETTER Kcd/m^2 . Who knew? This is the setting that actually works to make lights, instead of the default. No, I don't know why. Your Emissive value becomes the color of the light--3000 units is more reddish/yellow, 6000 and up become more blue-white. if you look in the render settings under Filtering you can add a Bloom filter to make it blow out, too :D (The background here was designed by Fabiana Kofman --FKDesigns, or fabiana on Renderosity). it's a mirrored floor and a transparent curved background prop,...

New Cover/ The Otherness Factor

Image
It's for a upcoming book, The Otherness Factor by Arlene Marks, published by Edge-Tesseract, and the book sounds very good--I need to actually buy the first book in the series so I can catch up.  This is a cover with a 3d undercoat and tons of Photoshop painting on top--this let me get it done and clean in about 5 days, though they were full days. Ixbeth, the scientist on the left, is actually the old V3 model with Akutenshi7 hands. Neither looks like the original.:D That's a variation on Pixeluna's Angelie on the right, too, used with her permission. Pixeluna is as angelic as her namesake! (She sells products at Daz3d now if you want to check out her 3d character sets ). Here is the base file for Lania: (You can still see the embroidery and the collar in the final). Here is the early version/rough for Ixbeth, she wasn't catlike enough at this stage: So I found this guy: (He's got great fur). And here is Akutenshi's hand--I'm going to use th...

A Poser Dress

Image
It's AeonSoul's (the Former Aery Soul) Skylys Dress, and I spent way too much time yesterday painting a new texture for it, which I have somehow saved incorrectly as a material file; it loads, but Poser complains while loading. The hair model is a better hair model than you would think--the transparency layers need a little work, and turning off shadows would help it, but untextured you can see it's actually very nice--it's by Out of Touch on Renderosity.com. The character is Lavinia by Pixeluna . Lavinia also has a cyborg form that I love and she was the inspiration for some of how Ami looks, though she just looks human here. That dress texture needs either more work or to be scrapped in favor of something else. Also, Spring is coming--I saw a woodpecker yesterday out the window:

Pixeluna's Lavinia (again)

Image
Here she is being a product demonstrator for my abstract backgrounds; I managed to get all the promotional stuff in the right order and the right size and uploaded at Renderosity, so I can stay on the vendor rolls. Aside from making some small money there, I get to read all the vendor gossip on the private "Vendor forum", which is as good as anything on reality TV. Artists are great drama llamas. :D

Once More, the Happy Dance of the Shipping Notice!

Image
My Granado Sidonia has shipped! Depending on whether she gets put on a boat or a plane, it could be a week, or 14 days+. I think my Granado Terra came by the proverbial slow boat, but he did eventually come. In theory I will split her so that Sophie can have her body, and Sidonia will either have to wait, or she get Raisin's old ws Soom body, which seems the most likely at this point. We'll see if that happens when she comes...she may end up just staying a whole doll. The Poser girl here is Rui for Dawn by fu-minn, so I have now rendered two Dawn promos. I have not yet made any commercial Dawn products myself yet, but I have made a new nose for her. I am not sure yet what the rules are for distributing new bits for Dawn are, so I have some research to do. Rui's little suit is a freebie by Pixeluna, over at Runtimedna.com (under the "zero price products")

Pixeluna's Cynagtala

Image
Yes, that is her Cynagtala SF clothing set from RuntimeDNA..(with a small addition to the top painted on)...and a cheesy lens flare! I hardly ever have a chance to put a lens flare in something :D. Laura (gypsyangel) did the character morphs and face, and the portal is by coflek-gnorg, on Renderosity.com, from the Sci-fi portals Megapack. (I actually bought it before it became a megapack, I have no idea what else is in there now).

Pixeluna's DruUna

Image
Over at RuntimeDNA, Pixeluna turned loose a new vampire ("DruUna for V4") for Victoria4 (and yes, I am cheating on Renderosity here--but sometimes RDNA has cool stuff to buy for Poser. Just sayin' :D ) Lots of weird textures cooked up in Filter Forge on this one, pillars and floor are by Danie and Marforno and those were bought from Renderosity, so there. Someone asked what the base file looked like from Poser and this is what is under the painting above (except for the prudery bars, she renders au naturel, of course)

Lavinia Cyborg

Image
I didn't buy Soom's cyborg girl, but I did buy a Poser cyborg created by Pixeluna. This is Lavinia2813 from RuntimeDNA . She's another Victoria4 add-on, and she has the base morphed figure of Lavinia, then the add-on cyborg textures, and then more props and stuff beyond that. If you add it all up, she came to less than a pair of doll shoes. :o I just can't sew for her, but then again, it's a lot less mess in the house.

Pinkie (2813)

Image
I'm still learning Poser Pro, and part of that is adding content to the "Libraries". Poser Pro is complex enough it has it's own internal browser to find your 3d stuff on your hard drive, and between the two of us we can almost find everything. I'm having to reload a lot of things by hand, partly because of the way they were sold originally. Hint--if you are making add-on software, don't assume that the parent software is always going to be called "Poser". I had to make a fake "poser" .exe and folders to get a lot of my older Daz files to work, and then manually move all kinds of little files, because of course I am now working off of "PoserPro.exe." Here is Pinky (aka Pixeluna's Ruffa) and her Hello Kitty breathing mask, a present from Laura. And here is what she looks like to the computer (it knows where each of the corners of the polygons are in 3d (there is a number for each on a x, y and z axis, and the computer wha...

Just Ruffa

Image
I buy virtual dolls, too--they are easy to store. This one is "PS-Face Play Ruffa" by "Pixeluna" at Renderosity.com, and she is a character for Victoria 4 (Daz3d.com's base Poser model). I did a computer render in 3d, adding clothes and hair and the mech behind her, and then manually added a lot of scenery and details in Photoshop, including a lot of textures from my trips to Cantigny for the rocks and ground.
