HerrZog's Gray Soom Beryl

Image
HerrZog (Anna) is selling some of her Soom dolls, one of them being this glorious gray HOOVED Beryl. The later releases of Beryl sometimes did not have hooves, when I got Petra, she didn't come with her full set because she was an abandoned order.  HerrZog's came directly from Soom, with *both* heads, feet, hooves and horns, on the new body. Here is what she has: (I forgot to list the fancy feet/shoe combo--this was a Vesuvia thing ages ago, now several releases have had it). The Romantic head is so pretty. HerrZog doesn't want to split her, understandibly, and is offering EMS as the shipping option (around 120-150 USD to the US at the moment). Base price is now 1300 USD, way past my own budget, especially considering my recent doll purchases :o (I have been selling dolls and parts to cover my purchase of an Asa from Iplehouse, and then ended up buying a very inexpensive Stella from the MP and some other heads and parts ... lol.) Anyway, if you are on Den of Angels this i...

Herr Zog Paints Chloe and Quartz

Image
Soom Quartz is one of the only Soom Legend guys that I really wanted..for his feet :D His face sculpt is very cute, but also quite androgynous; and with those I never know if I should be looking for an extra body, or dresses, or pants, or what. On the other hand he can be painted up to be astonishingly beautiful, like here. Since he's an "Ice Dragon" HerrZog made a combination of scales and ice cracks as well as making his eyes much more defined. (The Soom default faceup is very tentative and pale). And in a miracle of tiny painting, here is a modified Chloe head. Fairyland lets you order a matching "sleeping" head to go with your open-eye regular Minifee heads, for around 45.00 (it's been a while since I looked) so people would sometimes order the extra head and then resell it for quite a bit more to recoup the cost of shipping from Korea. The next buyer would take it and dremel the eyes open. Often these modified Minifee heads are really interesting bec...

Herr Zog's Elf Lishe, for adoption

Image
Herr Zog has up for sale a rare and beautifully painted Elf Lishe. I assume if you are a Den of Angels member it is listed there--she also has listed on the Den of Angels Marketplace a modified Sleeping Fairyland Chloe, blank, for 100 USD (not counting the EMS shipping). I looked at that one for a long time, before I decided I didn't need *another* loose head. Even if Chloe could share bodies with my Christopher, who is on a Feeple body. And the mods are very nicely done. Here is the flickr page with the Elf Lishe, there are more photos in the photostream. HerrZog's Elf Lishe (full doll)

Herr Zog's Boy Galena

Image
Herr Zog has been busy--while I have been ripping out carpet here, she has been doing several different custom dolls. I hadn't noticed this one before, this photo is in "Make up and Mods"; it's a boy version of the classic grey Galena (like Arianne02's Fury, many posts back). The delicate linework amazes me, especially when you remember the entire head fits neatly into your palm. Here's a link to her other new works: Herr Zog's Flickr And here is my own project photo, not nearly as nice:

Herr Zog paints Amber

Image
Yes, it's time to visit HerrZog's Flickr again and see what is new--there is also a pale Lishe that looks like an elegant vampire, and a rather adorable Soom Sard--usually Sard looks unhappy, but HerrZog's painting makes him look handsome and even a little playful. Amber has grown on me--when I first saw her at Soom I thought the idea was wonderful but that her face looked a little blank and frightened (like a real deer!) but since then, numerous repaints have made me see how pretty she can be. And blue and purple suit her, especially since she comes with little crystal horns. Here is the link for you to see the rest of HerrZog's current pieces: http://www.flickr.com/photos/herrzog/

HerrZog's Cuprit

Image
It occurred to me it was time to check HerrZog's Flickr portfolio again, and look! She has painted a Cuprit for some lucky person. Cuprit is not an easy head to paint--she has no real defined brow bone and her lips can look strange if they are not painted carefully. Here HerrZog has shaped a perfect Cupid's bow mouth and put some color around Cuprit's eyes, just enough to hint at an eyelid shape. And the eyebrows are so well done--it is not easy to get them the same on both side, or make them delicate enough, but these are beautiful. You can't see the best part from this angle, there is all kinds of snow/sparkle designs on her temples. Here is the link: HerrZog's Flickr I have come to like this sculpt so much, now that I have seen other artists paint it! And you can never go wrong with a blue wig.

Julia Valeria

Image
HerrZog has painted another Vesuvia--I love this one's Egyptian look and the perfect way it fits the character's "backstory" of being both Roman and Egyptian. Every now and then I have to go check HerrZog's flickr and see what new marvels have appeared:(a tanned Minifee Chloe, among other things!) HerrZog's Flickr A long time ago I read a book with the same title, and since it was written in 1951 you can guess how long ago it was. At the time I was so amazed at how the heroine, Julia, was not willing to sit around and have things happen to her, as was standard in the romantic fiction of the time. She was indeed Julia the Valorous. The setting seemed wonderfully exotic, too, and the book was responsible for several years of my taking Latin classes and reading about Roman culture. So I am glad to see she has such a beautiful namesake!

HerrZog's Photostream

HerrZog also does amazing faceups, the link below is to her photostream, where you can see the full color version of her painted Migma. (I didn't want to hot link the image) HerrZog's Flickr There are also some very cute cat photos in the mix!
