  So here is Anne on a Senior Iplehouse body. Granado made her a male-sized, switchable head as "Anne" or "Andy", so she has been a challenge to put on a big enough girl body. Her own Granado body has a fairly short neck, which isn't flattering to her square jaw.  I found this SID body on the Den of Angels MP at a discount because it has a manufacturing flaw in the arm--I think maybe it was an auction body? I was hoping that Anne's oversize neckhole (meant to fit on a boy body) would let her head sit on the oversize Iplehouse neck BUT NO I had to actually saw a centimeter off the neck and then grind it down so that her head would both fit and move on the new neck. It was not a fun process, but I am very happy with the new combo here--the SID shoulders are wide enough and the resin is a good color match. I still need to find her more appropriate jointed fingers--those are Granado boy hands, and they are a bit square and veiny, but again the color is decent. T...

Rajendora (Sewing Box Designs, on the sidebar to the left) made this perfect outfit for Laurel. Laurel is currently on an SID body, which meant that I had to put a spacer under her chin and hold her head on with a Soom resin"banana," all in the interest of having a lighter-weight body with no magnet feet. And the outfit is SO CUTE. It also snaps in front and is so easy to get on, and the beads just are the cherry on top. Laurel just needs some matching blue boots to go with it. Rajendora sews the best things! We went to see if a book I was looking for might be at the used book store. It was not, and the car stepped in gum in the lot: I still came home with two CJ Cherryh books I had not read before (The Faded Sun series). A GIANT DOLLY...though it's really a Wood Troll. Still WIP being created by J, but I think it's just fab, even not finished. Also a ton of work is in it already. From Wood Trolls to Wood Ears: the squirrels are using it for a drinking fountain (ew). It does mean I should get a tree guy to come out and prune some of the branches, since the tree is not well and might possible drop branches where we don't want them dropped. But I'd like to keep as much of the tree as possible, since several generations of squirrels have been raised inside of it. One of the clothing items I bought from Rajendora (Sewing Box Designs). It's a Cheongsam and it fits both the Fairyland Minifee body and also the Soulkid body (that is what Shushu/Kalypso is on right now). I think Kalypso enjoys being the only girl her size in the house--she has a giant box of inherited clothing from various other dolls that have moved on. Rajendora (Sewing Box Designs) sent me this amazing quilt!!! It's actually for Captain Aldwood, so I had it "delivered" by Camigwen, the Messenger of the Fae Court. So much detail! All hand-embroidered 0.0 Camigwen points out the peacock on one corner, for India. (Aldwood was there as a midshipman, and actually missed most of it as he came down with some kind of stomach ailment, alas). Behold the beautiful compass roses! The African plains are represented: And of course a lion. Aldwood has only seen them in the mountains of Algeria, not in the central part of the continent: There is a leopard, which delights Aldwood as it reminds him of his Boatswain, Consuelo, who is a species of Panthera fae and one of his closest friends: Ayers Rock, which Aldwood has not seen, though he has been to the north coast of Australia and admired the great number of colorful fish there.  And he has been to Stonehenge on holiday: And the Arctic, which Aldwood ...

...And a new wig! "These things are everywhere" (Even pink ones :D ) Now for some clothes--the dress she is wearing (by Sewing Box Designs) is such a great color but it's intended for the much chunkier Impldoll Idol, so I need to dig around and see if I have any similar fabric in my stash. Those are Ersa Flora eyes, by the way. :D

I had Sewing Box Designs sew me a couple of dresses..instead she sent me 4 new dresses for Beatrice, and a fully lined coat as nice as anything I have gotten from Iplehouse! Good heavens! Here is one of the dresses--I need to take a photo of the silver one as well, it's magnificent. Thought you can't see them, there are a lot of clever little tailoring details in all the dresses and the coat! The hem on this dress needs to be put in--neither of us was quite sure where it should be on Beatrice (her dress model is taller than Bea) and it was easier for me to hem the dresses here. I did finally get my Soom Garnet a while back, and discovered that her head was basically a Vesuvia head, and a tad large for the cyborg body. However, the SO Breccia has a smaller head and I think looks wonderful on the body, which is awesome. (The body is also very difficult to paint, so I can see why Soom has not reissued it much). Anyway, Beatrice is supposed to get Art Deco 1920's styled clothing, so Rajendora (Sewing Box Designs) is going to take on the task of making me a bias-cut dress for her. Raj did a couple of sets of shirts and jeans for Eric and his David and Venitu guys, and I was so pleased to see them on the Dollshe site in the Gallery ! I really liked this shirt because I remember seeing one in an old magazine that had similar colors and patterns--I think the original was from some Navajo-woven cotton and I wish I could remember the exact source. Rajendora is an amazing tailor!

It ended up like this--it's still a pretty odd wrap-style shirt, but at least I know where to alter it, and the shirt is at least wearable so Erzulie has something of her own. Here's how I put it together, more or less--I just eyeballed the pieces, which is why the fit is so odd--no measuring was involved. I ended up trying it under a pretty dress that Rajendora sewed me for a gift, and while it looks ok around the collar, the shirt is really too bulky to layer "as is". So Erzulie has a cute little dress to wear as well--I think I will make a little leather belt to match it later. Rajendora made a second dress as well, this is it on Gemma--it's really adorable! Rajendora (Sewing Box Designs) made me some custom kimono so that Selket could have some easy-to-put on tops that wouldn't hang up on her tail. This was the problem: And Rajendora carefully crafted the solution: All the kimonos have a center back split that falls where the tail emerges. She worked without a tail in hand, so I was impressed that the split hit precisely where it was supposed to. For some of these I want to make full trousers, and for a couple of others, ruffly steampunky skirts. Here are more of the pieces Rajendora created: This one is a heavy brocade (I supplied all the fabrics, not really keeping in mind the scale of the garments in the case of this one!) so instead of using an obi, I think I will put some frogs at the top and make it a more Chinese style garment with gold "silk" trousers. Selket is just glad to no longer be living in a pink cheerleader outfit (one of the few items I had that someone had customized to fit her tail). The workmanship...
