Milena's Flickr

I found the Flickr of a fellow DoA member and there are wonderful, spooky photos galore! Milena likes the "sleeping" plates of dolls and uses them to make such memorable photos, her Flickr is a wonderful visit! https://www.flickr.com/photos/dollsofmilena/

Pinterest Doll Heaven

Image
Yes, it's a whole set of Pinterest boards organized by doll artist! I have gotten into the bad habit of looking at Pinterest before bedtime because it is a peaceful way to unwind from the news. Of course it can mean that you end up going down some costume rabbit hole and then discover that it's midnight. But this is the main link, and then you too can stay up late looking at dolls: https://www.pinterest.com/ufachita/

Alyona Abramova

Image
I had to hunt around a little for a bio on Abramova, and found a little artist statement here: https://vsemart.com/hyper-realistic-dolls-by-alyona-abramova/ Also there are a lot more pictures of her work. So much detail in the costumes, just stunning! The image above is a "Malachite Maid" a fairy spirit of the Ural mountains. Russian fairy folk dress for the weather :D Here's "Coral" Another one that I don't know the complete title of (I should run Tineye on it to find it, I might do that later today): It's listed as "Of the Fair" on Pinterest by pinner Marina Morozova Everyone looks so good-natured! I have no idea these dolls are, maybe 80 plus cm tall? "Of the Fair" has some Indian bells that are usually I cm tall, so that is a rough guide. In the pinterest link below they look big, like 4 feet tall. And look, there is a Pinterest collection of her work !

"Sold" Dolls

Image
Of all these, only 6 are still here. The next set are all sold or given as gifts: And this last photo is like "The Photo of Fail": Except for the Souldoll Irene on the left, it wasn't the dolls fault; they were just too small for me. Irene, on the other hand, was the weirdest little thing ever. With a wig she is pretty cute, and with the right faceup she can be great (Buff got her and made a geisha out of her, and she looked fab.) But her eyes are mismatched, and in person her little smile looks like she is high as a kite, and her head is an..unusual..shape. Then there was the body. It was sold to me as a White Skin, which if you did not have another Souldoll to compare you would totally agree with--but it turns out Irene wasn't just white, she was Mighty White. And the neck is about a centimeter too long--and it's her own body. I have no idea what Souldoll was thinking at the time. So then I compunded the idiocy by trying to buy a Hong Ryeon in Normal Skin to...

A Lot of the Dolls

Image
Every now and then someone asks to see all the dolls I have here. In theory it sounds like a fun idea, in practice, it's not so fun. Most of my dolls are stored wrapped in their boxes, put away under beds and in closets. I have to find their clothes and their wigs, and as I add dolls to the table, the cats inch closer and closer. There also becomes the real possibility that if just one doll goes over, the whole pack will collapse in knees and elbows and broken fingers. So this was all I was able to get together before I ran out of patience, and my avatar fell over:D. From left to right: A. Merry the Carousel Horse, who on the basis of today's shoot is going to get Winter's head put on there and the Christopher head taken off. Wigs do not stay on that Christopher head, nor will she stand without a stand. (Cuprit body and shins with Amber hooves.) B.Selket, Soom Free Choice Vesuvia C. Rain, Immortality of Soul "G". D. Bryan, Iplehouse Denzel. Not Shown: Maril...
