Morning Glories

Image
It's almost the end of the morning glory season, but right now they are at their best. The giant vines on the back fence don't seem to want to set flowers, but that might be because I planted them too late.  The accidental one on the compost with the giant leaves has set little purple trumpets, very pretty, but very small compared to the leaves: The best bloomer is the one I put in the old SCA chest that the lid fell off of: I'm sorry to say I think a claw-footed tub would be cuter than the wooden box... And finally, the usual bee backside. The bees just ignore me now, I am just that weird garden animal that putters around while they eat. I did nothing doll-related today, unless you count rendering a Poser doll countless times with the new Superfly renderer. It's very slow on the quality levels, I have yet to find a setting that includes "accurate shadows" and "renders in my lifetime."

Moore Romeo's Photostream, the Purse, and Flowers

If you like Iplehouse dolls, you are in for a treat-- moore romeo's Flickr has lots and lots of wonderful photos of them!  I kept running across this photo when I was doing google searches for various Iplehouse molds, and it always cracks me up-- it looks just like they are looking in a mirror where the camera is. Pamela is saying, "What do you think of the ombre lips?" and Doria is "Mm, not bad!" (I am pretty sure Doria's faceup is by Lisa Jameson (Pepstar) with those signature brows. Here's another photo of moore romeo's: (Doria Vampire sees camera, makes derp face) "You always take pix of me eating! Stahp." There's a great photo of Raffine with a cigarette, and a whole bunch of the rare Rania, looking gorgeous. My own activities today were doing yard work, cleaning out the fridge, doing laundry, going shopping once I realized that we had reached the end of the Costco Toilet Paper Fort in the basement, and working on The P...

A Strange Merman

Image
I'm waiting to hear back from the art director on the latest version of a cover I am working on--I always think they will get back to me in a couple of hours, because the old art director was BAM "OK, we need you to lighten this and move the type over here," sometimes within minutes, so the whole cover from start to finish would take less than a week. Now, with the new world order, it can take a week just to get an interim version approved. Half the time I can't remember what I was doing..."there was a file? What was it called?" because so much time has passed and other projects and crisis domestique have intervened. But I was hoping we'd be done by five tomorrow, so instead of washing the kitchen floor I painted up the Ken head, into what has to be the strangest faceup I have ever done. I am not sure I like it, but at the same time it's so weird it's kind of interesting. And I invested way too much time hand-placing individual clumps of eyelas...
