It turns out the rabbit has been eating the fallen birdseed, so I finally got the camera where I wanted to have a good shot of it. The eyes are still goofy, but that is just what the camera does. Of course some of the animals like to check out the camera up close: I think the raccoon has clued in to the fact that where the camera is, there might be treats. I sort of like the aesthetic of the random photos at the end of the sessions, too: I also got a pretty good one of the front of the skunk :D

Usually once the phlox is in bloom, we have a few Eastern Swallowtails come every day to sit on them--but not this year. I don't know whether there are just fewer butterflies this year, or whether my decision to take out the pond meant that there is no water to attract as many. (Though less mosquitoes makes it worth not having the pond). But this morning we finally got this battered specimen to come by and check out the blooms. I might be able to attract more if I plant more parsley or fennel, both of which the grubs like to eat. I can also go get a small plastic birdbath and put it where the phlox are and see if that helps. But at least I can say I have..one: It's been a fabulous year for fireflies, though they are almost impossible to photograph with my camera, and of course it's always a good year for squirrels: Also the rabbits seem to be back. One of the things on the porch does not belong: I was able to open the door and use the broom to shoo it out...

So I have this Serenade Rabbit head that I got on the Den of Angels marketplace, under the impression that it was an SD size head. It is not. It is a mini head. I will paint it up because that part is fun; take a pic of it on my Granado Terra's body, and then send it off to Cat to do something with. If you look closely in the back you will see a little gray spot by the post. That is a real bunny: The bunny actually came by the porch door, which was a little startling while I squinted at the resin version. Yes, the profiles match :D I think it's a youngish bunny--they love my dandelions more than anything else, and they are welcome to them--all of them. It's finally nice outside! And we have broccoli in the back: See the holes? We have cabbage butterflies, too. We have lots of rabbits--they ate the cucumbers because we didn't put a fence around that planting square, but I can buy ok cucumbers at the store and there are only so many cukes a person can eat: There are also chipmunks, including this oddly pale one: And then there is this one, eating mulberries by my dining room window. They are adorable as long as they stay out of the house (and the heating ducts).

We have visitors! And bunnies too.

This is Girrl's scorpion "Sonja", a Free Choice Soom Vesuvia...technically an "Onvia" since she has the Soom Onyx head and the Vesuvia body. I think she is awesome. She even has her own knitting needles, but Girrl does the full-sized knitting, she is the one who made my Free Choice Vesuvia's blanket. And yes, I know the photo is huge--between Flickr and Blogger, I had to workaround reposting the image by storing it on my own server, and Blogger does not seem to know how to generate small previews from linked content. Anyway, Selket,my Free Choice Vesuvia, is wishing she had fur like Stripey..it's snowing again: It's snowed enough to form an ice dam on our roof, so J went up on the ladder with tools and salt to try to redirect the meltwater and knock off more icicles. Stripey thought she would help, until she realized there was snow: The wild rabbits have been raiding the compost heap, and so have the chipmunks--you can see tracks all over the ya...
