Iplehouse Auction Eric and Iplehouse Auction Yui

Image
There is a new auction set up on Iplehouse's Main Page , There is a really nice Yui with Raffine's engraved body and she starts at 460.00. Also there is a nice JID Asa--I never really liked that size because of the hands, but this girl has the option hands that are Violet's more adult hands from the Addiction Series. She opens at 250.00--she has some casting spots and a slightly mismatched right arm, but for the price she is a great deal. Then there is this hottie: I believe he starts at 530.00USD. I really like the light brown--it's expensive in Doll Choice but it photographs so well and makes the sculpts really stand out. There is also a cute BID Bono-- but as it's not a size I care for I will make you look yourself :D She is about the same price as the Asa, so I say go big.

Two Iplehouse Girls and an Amaryllis

Image
I have a Tokyo Asa from 2013, and I thought it would be fun to compare it with the old YID body from around 2010 or so, before they made the switch to the New Young Iplehouse Doll in 2012 (The dates are approximate, for some reason Iplehouse pulled off the order period information on their website, argh.) Asa is on an "old EID" body with the original joints, and a Medium bust. Compared to the YID body she is SO HEAVY. The Yid is very light and while the joints are basic, she is still a nice poser and a pretty sculpt. I like that you can see that they are from the same "house" in style. I think the YID will hold my Sidonia head, but I haven't decided yet--I may put my original Gitana head on there instead. And randomly, the amaryllis I sat on last year is blooming again--I guess it forgave me :D 3 day time lapse:

Wasting Time in Photoshop

Image
I've never done a lot with the color controls in Photoshop besides getting rid of yellow casts in photos, but of course you can do amazing things ..if you know how. This was a picture with two layers and some erasing, which left Priscilla (Iplehouse Asa) a bit streaky. Here's the original: Yes, the wig does look like a fishing lure, which is why I thought it was awesome--Scilla looks like a Warhol girl now. Here's another set of goofing around, this time a duplicate layer, Image>Adjust>Invert and then I made the layer a Color layer and mashed it down. Tada blue Cuprit, not currently on offer at Soom: I always learn new things when I do these!

Rogues and Rascals

Claudia (Granado Venus) all painted up, Bartholomew (Granado Jaden), who will take over Benny's Claw foot Euclase body since Bart has a good neck hole. He's a big head, which is why he isn't on my old Impldoll Star boy body I had laying around. Instead the underloved Soom Puss (Still named Puss at the moment) is sitting on that body, waiting most likely for a Granado Lads body late in the fall: Puss could also use some hair and custom eyes, as his eyes are two different sizes (!). And Scilla (Iplehouse Asa) now has her own custom eyes..they might be a bit small so I may make her a couple more pairs. Gradually everyone here is ending up with the eyes that I make, because they fit and they are the right color, no matter how blobbly they are in the back. Then there is William Tyler, the Scourge of the 17th Century Seas, or more likely of the local tailors and hairdressers. He's getting some Cavalier stuff eventually, and probably Puss as a sidekick. And finally, Ital/...

Iplehouse Shows You How to do Asa's Hair

Yes, this style! This is all my Asa currently has: Vermont Chick told me to go look in Iple Data, which is buried under here (You have to be logged into the site first): HOME There is a TON of useful things in this subfolder, "Iple Data", including pictures of the various sculpts in different wigs and outfits, which can really help to see if the sculpt is going to work for the character/ clothing you have in mind. I still need to find or make that style of wig first, and I am tending towards making it--I spent the weekend being very busy, but also I made another wig, a hand for Ital/Forrest,here, still needs nail shaping and paint: I also did some research on where to buy Apoxie Sculpt, Fimo, LaDoll and some other stuff because I want to make some flintlocks and some other rubbish. I went to Dick Blick in Wheaton and they had none of the things on my list, though they have GIANT BAGS of porcelain clay (cone 10), if you need that. I suspect you save a lot of money picki...

Sarqq's Gemma

Image
This is an amazing doll for a lot of reasons--first, it's one of the first "Custom Doll System" dolls that uses Iplehouse's new option of Gray (Gemma is an Iplehouse Asa) and then Sarqq made a magnificent cyborg girl out of her. If you look at Gemma's hands, they look like they are jointed--but it's clever paint! Gemma's little touches of yellow are brilliant too against the gray. While Torukia is still my favorite of Sarqq's dolls (Toru is just so pretty ), Gemma is a fantastic work of art. Here's Sarqq's Deviant Art --there are other new dolls too!
