Arekushia Needs a Wedding Dress

Image
So she is listing, on the Den of Angels Marketplace, A LOT of dolls and doll parts, including a Free Choice Vesuvia (with papers, of course). To see her Vesuvia, you need DoA Marketplace privileges, otherwise the link will just dump you to a holding page. She also has a gorgeous Ha Yarn Cho, Nephelin hands and all kinds of other goodies. Luckily, or unfortunately, she and I have a lot of dolls in common so they are mostly safe from me. Except for the ones I already bought from her, of course! ;)

Isley the Free-Choice Vesuvia..Sort Of

Image
So this is Isley, whose head is a slightly modded Granado Venus. Her body is one I bought from Gus, though "bought" is kind of the wrong word for something that was basically a gift-with-postage. The Free Choice Vesuvia used to be MissAlly's, and after she passed away (much too soon) Gus inherited her very large stash of dolls and has been gradually dispersing them since then. He very kindly strung her for me, but I wanted to blush her tail, and somehow the tail hook had gotten lost and Gus made do by looping the string through the tail tip, which is super if you never ever want to take the tail off again, and I am sure that is exactly how he felt after he had strung it together. The problem is that both the leg holes are much smaller than usual, AND the top hole is sort of a tiny slot, so getting into the "tail compartment" is..well, a pain in the ass. First here is me making a little hook for the tail tip: Then this is how I think the tail is supposed t...

Crab Legs and Tails

Image
J did a lot of shopping today, while I worked to retrieve the bubblers from the pond. The photos above are from a later trip in the evening to Jewel-Osco, where someone took a lot of time arranging the crab legs in the display. The Buddha's Hand looked interesting, but I think everyone in the store had picked it up and smelled it, so I passed on buying it. It was warm enough today to work outside without a coat, so I took advantage of it to carry out something like 30 gallons of hot water to defrost the pond. Or at least to defrost the pond enough to pull out the air stones and the tubing of the bubblers, because I didn't want them to go through several freeze and thaw cycles and have the pins at the top crack off, as they seem to want to do even with normal use. Since the pond was frozen solid, it took a while; but the pond looked pretty cool with leaves embedded in different layers and air bubbles trapped here and there. I was too wet and muddy to take a photo, though. I a...

Two Scorpions and Many Rabbits

Image
This is Girrl's scorpion "Sonja", a Free Choice Soom Vesuvia...technically an "Onvia" since she has the Soom Onyx head and the Vesuvia body. I think she is awesome. She even has her own knitting needles, but Girrl does the full-sized knitting, she is the one who made my Free Choice Vesuvia's blanket. And yes, I know the photo is huge--between Flickr and Blogger, I had to workaround reposting the image by storing it on my own server, and Blogger does not seem to know how to generate small previews from linked content. Anyway, Selket,my Free Choice Vesuvia, is wishing she had fur like Stripey..it's snowing again: It's snowed enough to form an ice dam on our roof, so J went up on the ladder with tools and salt to try to redirect the meltwater and knock off more icicles. Stripey thought she would help, until she realized there was snow: The wild rabbits have been raiding the compost heap, and so have the chipmunks--you can see tracks all over the ya...

Pretty in Pink

Image
It started with a little pink cheerleader skirt by Bukimeisu (with a tail hole) and went on from there. Strangely, Selket looks very cute in pink, scorpion tail and all!
