Cat's New Dia

Image
The photo, and the painting of her face, is by Luckyl on Den of Angels, and she is an old Soom Dia on the original body. Such a treasure! I love these old Sooms and the face paint makes Dia's unusual lips look balanced and beautiful. The smoky eyes also make her look like a 20's femme fatale. Cat will have fun making things for her. (I think Dia needs to have permanent giant morning glories on a hat; the real blooms are such a great color here.)

Soom Idealian (Dia?) Kay

Image
I think this is a Dia head reissued-- this version is Idealian Kay , and there is an open-eyed version, and a Romantic/ Reminisce eyed version: He comes with optional "prayer hands" as well that fit together: And you can get the jointed hands as well for Kay. The gorgeous photography is probably by Julia Shin . If it is a Dia head cast again, it's a really great head for this size body--Dia on the old Super Gem was a huge head, which is why she is made so often into male characters. Plus she makes a really pretty man! The faceup is really nice too--not sure who the artist is for this. BUT the faceup is not available , probably because of moving and the holidays--it might be Kay is already cast (at least a few of them) and ready to ship since both the head and the body were essentially ready to go. Also Typhoon Lingling looks like it hit the Koreas hard, so I would not be surprised if things were delayed because of it. Kay's sad face seems appro...

Sicktress' Igneo

Image
Yes, that is a Soom Dia in there, on a Dream of Doll torso and a bunch of other bits and pieces, as well as apoxy sculpt and crystals. He is just so stunning. Here is another photo: He's a lava diety and you might say he "rocks" it :D See more on her Tumblr here !

Soom Kay, Idealian

Image
Soom Dia, scaled up to be an Idealian boy . Dia makes a cute boy, but here the head looks a little small? Normally Dia makes a Too Big girl head, and a perfect Super Gem boy head. For some reason you can only see the Idealians if you have an account; I always have to log in again if I have been on the Super Gem pages.  I only kinda want the outfit. :D

Doll Clothes from Dorset!

Image
Those are stretch velour pants! They are so wonderful to put on--no fuss, fit perfectly, and a gorgeous velvety texture! I also love the top, I want to find more fabric with these neon colors to make 80's glam space kitten stuff for Bex. :D Hot pink! Orange! Electric blue! (All the colors, coincidentally, that look horrible on me, so I am so glad to have dolls that can parade around in them. Here is more fun stuff--metallic leggings: Shiny, shiny metallic leggings (hand wash cold, if at all) And Simone even sent a little knitty scarf/boa, which Tanglewyn immediately claimed: And one extra photo of Bex: I received one more EID shirt (with polka dots!) but the dollie recipient was strangely unwilling to wear it, so I may take it in a little to fit the New Soom Girl body and let my rockabilly android Cherry wear it instead. Dolls are so fussy.

Soom Xmas Kit, Iplehouse Doll Choice special

Image
Yes, it's a Dia , either male or female--your choice, on the old bodies. It will come in pieces and be prepared for slightly sketchy packing and possibly a missing hook or two--lay out all the parts as you open the box. It sounds like it will have at least an inner plastic bag this year! I missed posting yesterday because I finished the retro rocket tiles but it ran late so I just went to bed instead of posting. In other doll news, Iplehouse is having a neat sale for December--if there are limited heads that you want from the Special Forces or Addiction sets, go log into Iplehouse and look at the Doll Choice page under the size and gender of your choice. You will still pay extra for colored resins like tan, peach, ebony and gray, and the usual extra for the mobility thigh, but the base price for the doll is the same as if it was still listed as a standard, plus there is a 10% discount. The discount is supposedly in coupon form but it seems to apply automatically at checkout--do ...

Gifts from K, More Soom Dia

Image
K sent me these glasses from hottopic.com--they came with Cas smashed, though the image of him was fine and he was sitting in a pile of shards, which seemed sort of appropriate. I took the box and packaging to my local store and they swapped out the set for an unbroken set from the shelf with absolutely no hassle, which made me very happy. These glasses will only hold paint water and pencils, and will never be in the dishwasher. I had to do a lot of other strange projects today, including some ant control (they come in when it's cold outside) but I did a first pass on my Soom Dia's face. I need to go over it again with a magnifying glass, but it's coming along. She looks really different from the bulk of the Dias I've seen painted, possibly because I am not the best painter, but she looks the way I wanted her to.

Soom Dia

Image
I ordered her back in August, because I could see that Soom was gradually letting the "always available" Special Order dolls dwindle away, and I decided that if I messed around too long and didn't get a Dia I would kick myself later, since she is the last of the older Soom girls that I don't have. I also blame Sicktress and her boy Dia "Haru" for making me fall in love with the sculpt. Dia does make a gorgeous boy. So here she is--I got the shipping notice on the 17th and she is here TODAY. I think at this point someone at customs at O'Hare knows what these doll boxes are and just tosses them into the outgoing bin "for that crazy doll lady in the suburbs". Here is the box: I keep the shipping manifest now with the Certificate of Authenticity, though I also write what doll it is on the shipping papers, since Soom just marks them "doll" and I tend to forget which doll came when (a terrible thing to admit). Here is the inside of the...

Soom Dia Tawny Boy

Image
Since I went and ordered a cream white girl Dia, suddenly Soom remembered that people like this mold, and set up a release of a Tawny Dia Boy . I would have liked a Tawny Dia Girl, and it's possible some requesting on the Q and A board at Soom would get you this; though it's not clear if a "possible girl" would be on the new body or the old body. Since Dia is a huge head I think the old body is more flattering for her, or the male body, which looks awesome. Here is a link to an example: This guy on Meanae's Deviant Art This is the new body, which is what the After School Dia will ship on--see the magnetic wrists? While I am not fond of how that body is strung, I do love how it looks! And here is my favorite boy Dia: Haru belongs to Sicktress and he is a hand-sprayed hybrid with a mirodoll body and a lot of custom painting/ tatts on top of the spray. He is gorgeous: Haru is the doll I painted a "fan jewel" for..it's too bad it's just pix...

Amadiz Wigs

Image
I want to make a wig..a pretty simple wig, basically a hat with hair sticking out under it, so I was rummaging around. Cat recommended Amadiz wigs so I went to take a look. Oh my! That is a Soom Heliot up there, modelling "Moon God". I won't be making a wig quite like any of these, but wow, are they fun to look at! Here is the Flickr, which seems to be more current than their Deviant Art pages: http://www.flickr.com/photos/amadiz/ But here is a Soom Dia they decorated: And the deviant art gallery link: http://amadiz.deviantart.com/ So I am going to go stare at wigs for a while before I go to bed (a little early tonight, we dragged in groceries from Costco). And just for fun, another baby pic:

Sarqq's Mystique

Image
Sarqq was thinking of selling this beautiful Soom Dia, but I am hoping that she has changed her mind--this is a new faceup for the doll, and even more gorgeous than the previous version. Also, I think that if you have already paid for the shipping and custom fees to get a doll into the EU, you should keep that doll. And no one on Earth is going to make Mystique more beautiful than this.(And I think she has new Breccia claw hands). More splendid photos here: http://sarqq.deviantart.com/gallery/ I would write something about what is going on here today, but all I did was chip ice off the 100* foot driveway. I would rather shovel 2 feet of snow than one inch of ice. I still haven't gotten it all, and I am out of Johnny Cat to put on it. (The driveway does not get the expensive clumping cat litter). But unless I plan on going tobogganing down the hill in the cars, I need to get more ice off of that driveway. A flamethrower would be really nice. And fun. It has been pointed out to ...

Brown Tan Boy Dia

Image
Soom apparently got some requests for a brown tan boy Dia, and decided to honor the requests...for two weeks. Order period is Jan. 29th to Feb. 12th 2013. In case you were curious how she would look in brown tan, here is a bad photoshop of her head on my brown tan Soom Tremo: Dia has a big head, so she should look good on the male body (better than my photoshop, for sure). Here is her/his sales page: Brown Tan Male Dia LOL and a couple of years later, here is what he really looks like!:

Madlore

Image
Madlore is an artist, ball-jointed doll collector, and I think, historical costuming buff who lives in Moscow. I happened to find a link to her deviant art pages on Den of Angels and I am glad I did--I especially like her pen-and-ink portraits. She also likes the novels of Lois McMaster Bujold and Rossetti (I am guessing this from how much her Soom Dia, Angrboda, looks like one of his models). Madlore is awesome. Oh, and she has two cats, too. :D Her deviant art page (with cat photos): http://madlore.deviantart.com/
