Original Galena and the Crystal Visions Tarot

Image
She looks a little unsure about it all, but here she is! One of the first Monthly Doll Galenas, with the original open eyes (the recent "Socialite" reissue has "romantic" eyes). She is in very good condition--I did swap out a hand hook and reglued one of her head magnets, but otherwise she is very well cared for, and I like her faceup. I haven't decided about her eyes yet--I need to look and see what the original ones looked like, because I might have them in my eye box. But I like these as well. It's so nice to have clothes for her--since she is on the standard old body, she has so many choices :D Along with being bad and buying a doll (though really, the Galena was SO REASONABLE for such a classic doll) I also bought an inexpensive tarot deck direct from US Games System, the Crystal Visions deck. ( US Games is easy and good to buy from; fast shipping, literally hundreds of decks). I saw this one on The Truth In Story video channel , which consists of ...

Box From Australia

Image
I occasionally buy dolls from Australia--it's never a problem, except for the punishing postage fees, and it's usually about 2 weeks. This box, possibly delivered by crocodile, took only a week. Thavron (her first owner) is fly to the ways of the post, and wrapped everything very, very carefully: And after some unwrapping, here is her head! This is the Soom Snow White (the Shadow, human version in a rosy gray). She came with extra hands and one-piece heel feet; which I would have put on, but the elastic was already cut to fit on the conventional legs so I was lazy and just put those on instead when I assembled her. I noticed that the hip/pelvis hole was drilled large enough to fit the knot through on this body, so stringing the legs was a lot easier--this girl also had the wonderful Easy Pose pieces. It's a wonderful body in so many ways, and this particular one was well-cast, too. Here she is with a Withdoll Angela ("Rosy Brown", which is mostly gray ...

The Simply Divine Shoes At Home

Image
Cat and Liz got together and SENT ME A PAIR FOR CHRISTMAS!! And even J, who is not given to either noticing shoes or hyperbole, said they were "magnificent". And they are. They are not super hard resin, but slightly soft--enough to flex a little to get on a foot, but stiff enough to support a Super Gem's weight. Here is Shalimar, a Soom Gray Galena, wearing them--and you have to know that Shal is so loose that I was able to swap her flat feet for heel feet just using my fingers (I was able to pull out a 3 inch loop of elastic from her leg to get the heel feet on.) So of course she doesn't stand up on her own..and I haven't sueded her ankles..but here she is standing in the Simply Divine heels. Because they have a bit of "grip" to them, they not only stand securely on the smooth surface of the table, her feet don't slip in them. I might have to just buy another pair for one of my other Soom girls...this color is Mistletoe, and I love equally the g...

Also, the Sun is Shining

When we were in Naperville on Friday, we discussed whether someone would call 911 if we just lay down on the sidewalk bricks like geckos and baked in the warmth.

More Shalimar

And here she is with a less poofy wig. I got her headcap magnet glued in correctly and now she just needs what everyone else does...clothes. You can see she is the original Galena Nov 2009 release. I'm her 5th owner and it looks like everyone else kept her in the box 90% of the time--I'm afraid she is going to be out a lot more than that at my house, partly because I want to sew for her and partly because I am so amazed that she is here--she sort of dropped in unexpectedly (though she was on the Marketplace since July, I never thought to look for her until a week ago.) Galena is my very favorite Soom sculpt-- but she isn't as popular as Beryl, so she is much harder to find. The best thing is that every girl here is now pretty much "that size" so clothes can be shared. Aside from doll stuff and cleaning, not much went on here--J is working on a table out in the shop, which has no heat and it is around 21 degrees out there, and he made a pumpkin pie. I have some ...
