AEgir and a Beer Mug

Image
So AEgir is done, and his large version is over at Ganglieri's Grove/ Wyrd Curiosities ; we joked that he looks like "Merman Jesus", but that is what made him fun to do. He just took far longer than he should have--3000 pixels tall and 2400 wide is a lot of pixels. I also have been wrestling with Wings3D, which is a free modelling program, and probably one of the easier ones to use, though I have had to repeatedly google how to do things like "move the camera" (you use the hotkey "U", along with the arrow keys), and I am discovering that Wings (and maybe all modelling programs) really don't like to delete things. Wings will happily add all kinds of sudden and mysterious things (I use "Undo" a lot), but then only grudgingly delete things..so far the only command I have found that works is "hole" after you select a face, and even that doesn't work too well. I have made a chair out of two cubes, a broken Xerox machine out ...

Ran

Image
No, not the Akira Kurosawa movie Ran, the big deep sea goddess of the Norse; the one who is a bit like Tethys. She's now over at Ganglieri's Grove somewhere; I need to do her consort this week though I have been having trouble casting the rather cheery, otter-like Aegir. He's a bit sunnier than the deep dark Ran.

Sigyn the Steadfast

Image
A small section of a new prayer card for Ganglieri's Grove , this time of Sigyn, Loki's very loyal wife. Most of these dieties are a delight to work with, the only one I had real trouble with was Dionysius; I had a run of terrible bad luck while I was working on that card, and I was anxious to get it done and out. But I get to do Antinous next, and I am excited--I had already a small collection of photos of the statues in my folders, because he is pretty. :D

Baldur

Image
This poor Norse god has been waiting patiently for me to finish him for two months--he was done a week ago, but the commissioner wanted a chance to present the image to someone else before we put him up on the Web. He's an interesting god, you can Wikipedia him for details. I enjoyed working on him! He's over now on Ganglieri's Grove (see sidebar for the gods list).

Frau Holle

Image
This is just a pencil sketch for a proposed Frau Holle card--I will put snow outside the window for the color version, and lots of blues..and maybe feathers on the curtains. The small girl looks a little like my niece. :D

Almost Wuldor

Image
Here's another of the Norse gods for the ganglierisgrove site; he needs some tidying up/detailing (I forget how huge these images really are at 3000 pixels tall), but he is basically done as far as layout and content goes. I spent a long time looking where to put a reindeer in there and trying various spots until I said D'oh and put it where it belonged. :D

Sif Final

Image
She is all done and going up on the Gangleri's Grove site! I tried to make her look like a summer day. :D

Sif update

Image
Between hauling garbage out of the house and ripping up carpet, I have been working on Sif...I should also be finishing a cover before my publisher thinks the floods have carried me off. The wheat is slow going, I probably could have grown it as quickly as I am drawing it. (That is an old key and a drop spindle dangling from her belt, in case you were wondering.)

Goddesses, Gods, Prayer Cards and More

Image
This is a little in-progress portrait of the goddess Sif; I have been working with Galena of Ganglieri's Grove to paint some God and Goddess images. Galena is a specialist in the Norse pantheon but she is interested in everything; she has been fun to work with, and she is also The Most Patient Person ever as floods, lighting storms, book covers and crisis domestique have made me go at a snail's pace. The other artists she has worked with have made some amazing images! (I love Skadi especially). If you visit, be respectful--it is a religious site. http://krasskova.weebly.com/index.html http://krasskova.weebly.com/prayer-cards-for-sale.html
