May Day

Image
It seems that we always end up at Home Depot on May Day here; partly because if you want to plant little plants "When all danger of frost has passed", this is it. April was cold and wet at the end, and our heater is still running (though we need to replace the thermostat, it reads colder than it should). I think our local Home Depot is now used to me taking photographs in the aisles--and I am not subtle, as I am using a regular camera and not a phone. (my phone is not smart). Yes, it's petunias. The yellow ones are looking rough from the rain, but the plants themselves are healthy. More of the Mandevilla--I love those things. I actually got one to overwinter in New Jersey in the house, though it refused to bloom the second year. And completely randomly, I found another Culver's sign I hadn't downloaded from my camera: Now that is a salad! Bonus, tulips we planted last year:

Dolls,Cats and Fish (Random Photos)

Image
Some big 1:1 dolls being arranged at the mall. I did a head swap on my Impldoll Delia (who has a small head) and my Bella (who has a large head) and they both look great now, though Bella (Erzulie) needs clothes in her favorite pink, blue and gold. The cat enjoyed the box left over from my trip to Mitsuwa: And it's Lent, so it must be fish for dinner..Kit Kat flavored fish! I missed getting a photo of the Mint Explosion Walleye, though.

Carissa's New Feet, Monday Night Fish, Tuesday Morning

Image
still needs more hair detail, but you can see how they will look mostly... Culvers on Monday night, going big on the fish eclairs... And what I woke up to this morning. As my neighbor Ed would say, "Yah, snow."

Best Fish Dinner Yet

Image
OMG can you just imagine..fish..peanut butter...chocolate. I would think you would stuff the fish with peanut butter, and then enrobe the whole thing in milk chocolate.

Butter Pecan Walleye

Image
Culver's fish combos are always the best :) J thought that you could actually make a good butter pecan walleye dinner, but the s'mores were pretty hopeless...they were like the Catfish Beignets of our New Orleans trip. Back in 1996 or so J went on a business trip to NOLA, and I went too. I spent 8am -5pm wandering around window shopping, eating and talking to people, and went to a cafe in Jackson Square famous for it's Beignets, which is sort of a giant puff pastry donut. They come with powdered sugar and a choice of stuffings. A plaque on the wall said CATFISH-BEIGNETS. I asked the waitress if that really was an option, and she said they would make it if I wanted it. :D

Seedpods, Flavor of the Day, Granado Boy Body

Image
I had a chance not only to spray a doll head outside today, but do some yard work, planting summer bulbs and clearing out old mulch and dead stuff. I thought these seed pods were pretty and lace-like--the cats thought the dead grass and pods were a great place to roll. At least I got a photo:D.Here is the large version in case you have a use for brown seedpods: http://gypsyreggae.com/Freebies/seedpods.jpg We also went past Culvers while doing errands yesterday--this sounds almost good; though it was hard for the sign to top "Mint Chip Walleye". The fish combos are always my favorite. Finally, Zelda sold me one of her 68 cm Granado boy bodies--she felt that the size was out of scale with the rest of her guys, and the torso slipped around more than she liked. I took it, took out all the kips in the joints, painted matte medium in the hip sockets (it's a little like very thin hot glue sueding) and made this crazy insert to see if it would tame the waist joint. It seems...

Flavor of the Day

Image
Until a month ago, Culvers would always put the entree under the ice cream flavor. My favorite was "Mint Chip Walleye".
