Sicktress Transforms Rebecca

Image
So here is Rebecca, who I was considering making into Wonder Woman, but never really got around to it. So I sent her to Sicktress, AND LOOK! Meet Kleo: Dye and tattoos all by Sicktress. PURE DOLLIE MAGIC! And now Sicktress gets to deal with the clothes problem, though seeing her photos, maybe this is all she needs. Sicktress is busy making some Sparta/Greek armor as well, I need to steal more pix and show what she is doing.

Dollshe Copper Oriental and Soom Brown Tan... and Some Random Photos

Image
Dollshe Copper Oriental is a lighter color than Soom Dark Tan..I thought of swapping around some heads because I love that body, but the color isn't a match. Everyone prefers their own bodies anyway. I went to Target for some groceries and bought this for K: Cat sent me these in a big box o wonder: Summer is coming to an end, the flowers are getting a little shabby: And one more photo of Bex--I might need to make her faceup a little more intense; in person it looks great, but it's a bit light for photos:

Bex the Second

Image
I had another Iplehouse Rebecca which I traded to get a Garnet, which was a good thing, but then I missed Rebecca..and since I had a spare EID body I just wanted a head, which Iplehouse does not sell. At least until last month, when they announced they were discontinuing her, and you COULD buy just a head!   And you still can if you hurry, sale ends September 30th. So Thursday the head arrives, in a nice little cardboard keeping box, and a certificate. Today was the first chance I had to paint, so I put a decent faceup on her except for a blot on her right eyelid, which I am going to ignore for now, and I had to make her some eyes out of sculpey because nothing I had looked right. I will be making more sculpey stuff tomorrow, so it was nice to get everything set up anyway. I'll take more photos of her tomorrow in decent light :D

Yet Another Luna Faceup

Image
I am trying to sort of trim down the number of dolls here so they will fit in one closet; it's just easier to keep track of them and be sure they are at the right temperature/ humidity and not crowded. I had planned on maybe replacing the Iplehouse Rebecca I had traded away, for a new one from Iplehouse, with the type A faceup, because I do like it: But then I realized that I did already have the much-repainted Luna head that could fill in for this character, plus she is more "smiley" than Rebecca, and I also like the faceup Iplehouse offered when they were discontinuing her: So I tried to do something sort of similar with lighter lips, and while it looks like the 6 yr old's version of the Iple faceup, it's cute for now. I do need to redo her lashes, though--one side is behaving strangely. Lashes are such a pain. Haha nailed it! Anyway, the eyes are from Candy Kitten's Emporium and they are 14mm Cogtastics. Candy Kitten eyes usually have small whi...

3 Maids in A Row, And Retro Food at Target..for SDs

Image
This is left over from the posing photos I took earlier this week--there is Ivy the NYID, Doria the EID (I bought her when she became a Standard), and Rebecca from Doll Choice on the SID body. Doria actually has a smallish face, so I took her and swapped bodies with Rebecca...and Rebecca looks great on her "natural" body (she has kind of a big head): Yes that is a Christmas tree back there. Don't judge me. Here is Doria, looking great on the SID body (her head is a little big for the NYID, I did try it): This means that their wardrobes need to be switched around also, but I am OK with that--most of Bex's pile of things are stretchy, and poor Doria has only one dress. I spent most of today mowing my lawn, my neighbor's lawn, and part of the back ..with a push mower; almost an acre, so it took about 4 hours-- and I can tell I will feel it tomorrow. But we went out to the Cedar Grill for dinner, and then to Target, where they had a Our Generation 50's...

Swag from the Doll Meet

Image
My big purchase was two handmade mohair wigs from Akutenshi7. The first one was for Gemma, since she has been sharing a wig with another doll and no one should have to share their hair. The second wig is for a doll that is still in progress and I want to finish her completely before I take pics, but I did want to share her gorgeous wig: I really wanted a mohair wig for this girl since her hair needs to be able to be pinned up for different outfits. So pretty! Then there was a raft of other deals that I found: Two of these were from Akutenshi, though--a cravat that she bought for my guys (I think one of the Victorians, Josiah Aldwood, will get an outfit to match the cravat), and a chair. A 5.00 chair. I was very excited about the chair because they cost the earth to buy through the mail or ebay because of the shipping, and this one was a perfect size for Coppersmith. Here he is using the chair and passing around a bottle (a tiny Wheaton bottle with Ben Franklin on it, so it's a...

Test Sleeves

Image
Working on an outfit for Bex, but the test sleeve I did proves that the beads I have are too big, and I should couch down a small gray cord for the sleeve embellishments instead of the stitches I was using. I am working the uncut sleeves in an embroidery hoop, though, and that makes all the sewing a lot easier.

Things Get Finished

Image
Here are the bigger eyes for Bex that I finished today--the brown ones were a little small. I ended up making a lot of pairs of eyes and I think about half with be usable--4 of the pairs I like a lot. I made half rolling by hand and then today made a second mold and did a few pairs that way. It's hard to get the eyes out of the mold without pulling the eyes out of shape a little, and I decided I preferred the hand-sculpted ones anyway. It's not like I am making these for production so it's ok if they are a little quirky. I also scorched the set I cooked in the toaster oven on toothpicks, because they were too close to the top element. So in the end what worked best was hand rolling a ball, chilling it for 30 minutes outside (or in your freezer) slice it in half with a sharp knife, and then use the back end of a paintbrush to sculpt a tiny torus at the top of the dome. I found the end of a plastic straw was the perfect template for an Iplehouse eye iris size. Then steam th...

Some More Iplehouse Clothes

Image
This is labelled as a SID dress, but it fits Audrey perfectly (it even came with some cocoa colored tights, which would be cute if you had a cocoa scarf or belt to sort of pull it all together. The color is a bit bright for Audrey, though, and it may go to Roswell, who looks amazing in hot pink. I will add a photo of her later if the top fits. I also got a pair of NYID boy jeans hoping one of my guys could wear it, and a plain top. It turns out that the legs are too tight for my Granado boys, and are even tight on Rebecca, but I love all the pockets even if Bex is not fond of the air gap around the waist: The top she is wearing is a set with bottoms that look suspiciously small (I haven't tried them yet, but if Bex can sit in them I would be amazed.) But the pants are good with a belt for sitting, so I think I will see if I can get a pattern off of them but redo the waist. I also bought a NYID boy white shirt with buttons that looks great too, so I will take more photos tomorro...

Superbowl Snow

Image
It started to snow last night and right now it's still snowing--but it was pretty this morning: The problem is that the snow has to be cleared off the walks and the driveway, which is less fun than admiring it from inside. J was willing to go out and scrape it: I did laundry and poked at various doll faces and tried more wigs on Bex--I don't care for this one though it's kind of a cute photo: J kept himself busy making an elaborate lemon cake: The cat was super bored and ate some of the roses in the flower arrangement: I suppose I should turn off the light-up deer before it disappears under the snow entirely. There will be more shovelling tomorrow!

Stay Up Late

Image
This cat was a total bedhog last night, and now *she* is the one yawning. I spent today keeping her awake by scrubbing floors, moving her toys, vacuuming and generally annoying her in revenge. I also put in Bex the Iplehouse Rebecca's Glow In The Dark Eyes-- and while here is a photo of them in the light, I wasn't able to get a clear photo of her in the dark, partly because I was giggling so much. You know those cartoons where the lights go out and the characters eyes are white against the dark? It looks just like that. I found a wig style I like for her, though I have to order her the correct color, since all I have besides the black is a sort of purple, which isn't right either. Once I get my last Granado photo contest entry done, I can work on some clothes for her that are more SF than just modern.

Doll Clothes from Dorset!

Image
Those are stretch velour pants! They are so wonderful to put on--no fuss, fit perfectly, and a gorgeous velvety texture! I also love the top, I want to find more fabric with these neon colors to make 80's glam space kitten stuff for Bex. :D Hot pink! Orange! Electric blue! (All the colors, coincidentally, that look horrible on me, so I am so glad to have dolls that can parade around in them. Here is more fun stuff--metallic leggings: Shiny, shiny metallic leggings (hand wash cold, if at all) And Simone even sent a little knitty scarf/boa, which Tanglewyn immediately claimed: And one extra photo of Bex: I received one more EID shirt (with polka dots!) but the dollie recipient was strangely unwilling to wear it, so I may take it in a little to fit the New Soom Girl body and let my rockabilly android Cherry wear it instead. Dolls are so fussy.
