Iplehouse Doria on a Fantasia Body

Image
It looks GREAT. It's taller and leaner than the SID body that I had Doria on before, and I just like the body shape more--the SID is a competent poser, but there is something blocky about the lines of the Iplehouse design. The Fantasia body is a slightly less-sturdy poser-- but has a more aesthetic flow.  I am going to have to figure out shoes, though--those feet are large. :D Also my Oni girl was wearing one hand until yesterday, so the nails are still green--I need to fix that.

Moore Romeo's Photostream, the Purse, and Flowers

Image
If you like Iplehouse dolls, you are in for a treat-- moore romeo's Flickr has lots and lots of wonderful photos of them!  I kept running across this photo when I was doing google searches for various Iplehouse molds, and it always cracks me up-- it looks just like they are looking in a mirror where the camera is. Pamela is saying, "What do you think of the ombre lips?" and Doria is "Mm, not bad!" (I am pretty sure Doria's faceup is by Lisa Jameson (Pepstar) with those signature brows. Here's another photo of moore romeo's: (Doria Vampire sees camera, makes derp face) "You always take pix of me eating! Stahp." There's a great photo of Raffine with a cigarette, and a whole bunch of the rare Rania, looking gorgeous. My own activities today were doing yard work, cleaning out the fridge, doing laundry, going shopping once I realized that we had reached the end of the Costco Toilet Paper Fort in the basement, and working on The P...

SID Iplehouse Doria, a 3.5 Hour Render, and a Halloween Spider

Image
(The character here is Gypsyangel's Roxanne , for Victoria7 at Daz 3d.com) I did get the new version of Daz Studio (4.9) to install, and it is a lot better than 4.8 as far as I can tell. For one thing, it renders for me, even with the Iray renderer, which does not play well with my low end video card..but it does render. I will say that at first I had a bad time with it--it rendered everything in hot pink, ... which for some inscrutable reason is because Zone Alarm had quarantined freelibrary.dll, and once I had googled around, reinstalled Daz, and finally pried the .dll from the jaws of Zone Alarm, it worked fine. Zone Alarm still hates Daz Studio, with good reason, because Daz wants to be in constant contact with the mother ship, even if you are just rendering a decade-old flat plane with a beach scene, which probably shipped with Poser 4 or something. But now I am ready to become a content creator once more, or rather a content painter while someone else figures out ho...

The Fabric Empire Strikes Again

Image
So I have not been too happy with any of Captain Aldwood's wigs, and I thought I would try making a fur one, so I looked on the Internet to find some novelty fur in brown. And as usual Fabric Empire had the best selection (including fuchsia, which really wasn't appropriate for Aldwood), so I ordered a teeny one yard swatch, forgetting that Fabric Empire does nothing small, and the bolts are insanely wide. So I now have enough fur to make my own Wookie. At least I can mess up the first..100..wigs or so I make. I also tried on one of the doll show dresses on Doria, who is the widest doll I currently own (not counting things like stuffed cats and Hello Kitty). The fit was not flattering but I can see how I can recut it to fit better. I like the color of the jacket especially: I'll probably take off the bodice, split the front of the skirt, add a green petticoat and just redo most of the jacket to have a slimmer fit. She has stockings and really cute bloomers (you can...

3 Maids in A Row, And Retro Food at Target..for SDs

Image
This is left over from the posing photos I took earlier this week--there is Ivy the NYID, Doria the EID (I bought her when she became a Standard), and Rebecca from Doll Choice on the SID body. Doria actually has a smallish face, so I took her and swapped bodies with Rebecca...and Rebecca looks great on her "natural" body (she has kind of a big head): Yes that is a Christmas tree back there. Don't judge me. Here is Doria, looking great on the SID body (her head is a little big for the NYID, I did try it): This means that their wardrobes need to be switched around also, but I am OK with that--most of Bex's pile of things are stretchy, and poor Doria has only one dress. I spent most of today mowing my lawn, my neighbor's lawn, and part of the back ..with a push mower; almost an acre, so it took about 4 hours-- and I can tell I will feel it tomorrow. But we went out to the Cedar Grill for dinner, and then to Target, where they had a Our Generation 50's...

Two Pairs of Resinsoul Jointed Hands

Image
Resinsoul has started to make jointed hands for 60cm males now, and I wanted to get a pair for my Immortality of Soul G--his hands are beautiful, but not useful; and as a carpenter he really does need posable fingers. So I ordered a NS pair and a WS pair, hoping to get something like the IoS pale pinky-white. Alas, when they came, I realized they would be too small--the IoS body has Soom Super Gem-sized hands, and these hands were quite small--they are exactly the size of female Souldoll Zenith hands. This is not a bad thing, because my ladies need workable hands, too. I tried them out on Cecilia, my Granado Katrien/Dollzone hybrid first (the DollZone body came to me with Delf hands, which were ok but a bit small for Cece's fat head ;) But Resinsoul NS is much lighter and pinker than Dollzone NS, so her Granado male hands went back on. (They are actually ok for her, just a bit square across the backs). So I went and got out Abraxas (FL Celine/Souldoll hybrid) instead-- sh...

Everquest EID

Image
So this is K's first faceup,on an Iplehouse Luna, based on some You Tube makeup maven's "do." (I also got to see YouTuber Jeffrey Star, who looks like one of my Granado boys with someone else's faceup ;)) I wanted to see how K would paint a head without being influenced by what is currently fashionable in faceups, and the results are pretty neat--I think Luna looks like an online rpg character now, so she will get a not-PC Elf Magic User outfit with some of the trim and thrift store repurposed silk I found this weekend. I might slim down her lower lip--it's pretty full anyway and the underlining makes it maybe more dramatic than it should be, but I want to live with it for a while first. Akutenshi and I found a perfect chair this weekend, and then I went out again with K we found a "cake safe" made from a tiny cover and a candleholder, and a lot of other neat things. The chair and cake safe (and beer stein) are shown here: Akutenshi also spotted ...

A Dead Guy, A Countess and A Bird

Image
This is Gravitas, (an Ariadoll Gravity) who is acting as Teodor the Necromancer's assistant. It's hard to get good help these days--Gravitas ends up being a liability, I think, but meantime he was seriously fun to paint. I should have taken a photo of his hands-- but I will next week, as I have a doll meet tomorrow. So I have been busy finding shoes and boxes and wigs. Tara, Soom Beryl and Ereshkigal, (Granado Gabe on a Soom Topaz body,) are all dressed and ready to be boxed here: Bird, Soom Tremo can't find his shoes (I am not sure he can find his feet, much less clothes, but he is a pretty boy:) And after a lot of sewing I discovered that the Countess Constance, Lady Aldwood, (who is an Iplehouse Doria) wouldn't fit in the limited space in the car, after all the others had been stuffed in; so she has to go to some event later. By then her corset should be hemmed and her nails done. :D

Random Sunday Photos

Image
I made Lady Constance's eyebrows a little heavier, worked on her dress, weeded the garden (the mosquitoes are really bad), found another tomato and some butterflies: ...went grocery shopping, went to Bass Pro Shops, Barnes and Noble and Ikea and finished at Target for cereal; and came home to discover Stripey had not had a hairball on the laminate, but the underside of the twin mattress stored downstairs. I was very grateful. She's a good kitty.

The Menagerie

Image
Though Tara, Soom Beryl, has hooves, she's not part of today's menagerie--the animals in the photo below are the names of all the baseboards--J started out with A and B and then decided a tiny letter on a 6 foot board wasn't visible enough, so he graduated to "Cat", "Dog", "Elephant" and so on all the way up to "Unicorn". (Cat was a pain to paint, Elephant doesn't fit, and Nautilus and Giraffe were only marked on the map and not on the boards). However, they all did get painted, and eventually I figured out where Unicorn belonged, since it wasn't on the map: I highly recommend doing this with any project where you have various sizes of similar things that you have to fit together, because it makes it a lot easier to keep track of (and communicate with someone else) what the pieces are that you are working with. I also painted Doria: Her eyebrows are a bit over-plucked but the rest isn't too bad. Saturday night we wen...

Doria, Lightning Fast

Image
Outside my door at 10 Am after being ordered Monday, Korea time.(About ten minutes after the sale officially started) :o She looks great! :D She does have nice random eyes, too! Wearing the new chemise I made, and I also made a skirt: So much more mellow than the Addiction promos! Now I have to catch up on everyone else's sewing ;)
