  It's got both sleeves! And a skirt hook, a snap and a back lacing :D Everything except the corset is just shaped flat rectangular pieces, which for a professional tailor they would be fast and easy to make. The length of the skirts, ungathered, were about 180 cm long. The "sleeves" would have taken me about 5 minutes if I hadn't needed to do a bit of needle lace to hook together the two sides of the lace rectangles. A pleater would make all those gathers faster than me doing them by hand, too, and many of them were already part of the nightgown I cut apart. My biggest mistake was sewing together the two layer of the skirt--they would have worked better as two separate skirts, with the underskirt gathered into a flat panel. My next one will be much better :D Now the hard part will be to figure out who needs clothes next (not the guys, they look fine). It's hot here, after all. So Miss Bonnie went to the Sunday meetup in an outfit that was going to be a cat costume, but didn't get finished..and she came home with not only a new outfit by Akutenshi, but Akutenshi gave her a little rainbow alpaca that matched the dress! That alpaca is just squeeably cute, and Bonnie's arm goes around it perfectly. It looks like she needed a good pet. At the doll meet I also found a Tupperware full of cute Yo SD dresses, which were designed to fit Volk's smallest dolls (here's a cute Volks YoSD from the show:) I think Bonnie's shoulders might be a tiny bit wider, but they are really close in size, so the ones for sale looked like they would fit. And they were marked at 4.00 for each set! I was so excited, the clothes were so cute. (This dress  had a matching little red sweater, too) (She has a pair of shoes now!) I have a Baby Iplehouse Doll and it's hard to find clothes for her--even Iplehouse has almost nothing right now. Apparently she is sort of Little Fee size but from reading the comments from people who tried the clothing on the BIDs, the BID shoulders and chests are chonkier and hard to fit in the clothes. Then I remembered that Martha Boers (AntiqueLilac) had some really cute outfits that she had made for her Iplehouse crew so I went to look again--and there were several downloadable free patterns for them! There are nice clear directions as well. And it's not only the BIDs that have patterns-- lots of people have patterns! These are not all of them. :D The tutorials and the "Sewing Journeys" are really fun to look at as well. She is a wonderful designer (she calls herself a "doll costumer") and a very generous person to share her patterns! And now and then there are clothes for sale on the site as well. It's a fun visit!

I joke that dolls with bunny ears are a way of saying "We have no theme ideas, but we hope you will like this doll." I *do* like this doll , even without the amazing crystal tinted ears-- I assume they are held on with magnets. Best of all is That Outfit, though Cat pointed out that the Souldoll hands will not fit through the sleeves unless there is some elastic going on there I can't see. Mom sent us some slippers, and instead of the usual cardboard box and tissue, they came in these awesome velvet bags! So I have been saving them to make a doll dress--there was even enough of the faux fur trim to do the top as well as the bottom of the overdress. The burgundy satin will be an underdress, with long bell sleeves; and the velvet overdress will lace together in the front. Tinsley's wig is new (from Ebay) and needs a tiny bit of evening up on the bangs--it's a size 7-8. 8/11 more dress progress: The rings are sold at JoAnns for "chain mail" and they are very soft--I bend them shut, close the gap with nail polish, and bury the gap side under trim. They are washable and lightweight, and strong enough for doll clothes. I wouldn't use them on human costumes ...unless I was making chain mail, and then it's cheaper to use a dowel and a dremel and cut up your own wire. Wire comes in fun colors now.

A GIANT DOLLY...though it's really a Wood Troll. Still WIP being created by J, but I think it's just fab, even not finished. Also a ton of work is in it already. From Wood Trolls to Wood Ears: the squirrels are using it for a drinking fountain (ew). It does mean I should get a tree guy to come out and prune some of the branches, since the tree is not well and might possible drop branches where we don't want them dropped. But I'd like to keep as much of the tree as possible, since several generations of squirrels have been raised inside of it. One of the clothing items I bought from Rajendora (Sewing Box Designs). It's a Cheongsam and it fits both the Fairyland Minifee body and also the Soulkid body (that is what Shushu/Kalypso is on right now). I think Kalypso enjoys being the only girl her size in the house--she has a giant box of inherited clothing from various other dolls that have moved on. Aren't these cool? Cat spotted them and sent me a link . I always forget to check Doll Hearts because the clothes they carried were always a little too small for my dolls--they made Volks SD sized clothing and I had Soom girls, which are a bit taller. Now Doll Hearts makes more of a variety of sizes, but always with their trademark lace and attention to detail. 

I need to redo the cup pattern, since once the top hem is in, there isn't enough fabric to cover her--so trim to the rescue! more beads, trim and lacings in the back will happen next. We went to the Fox Hills Mall on Saturday, and wandered around the upper level of Round1. It looks like something designed by Ridley Scott and sounds like you are inside a pinball machine with Dolby Sound. It's great. If I was going to play I would bring earplugs. (I think the holding company for Round One is Japanese) Mysterious Prize Item Kaiju: In the basement of Macy's, Christmas is tiptoeing in (it's not even Halloween, you animals!) I saw a photo of the pink "medieval" dress up in the right-hand corner thumbnail, and clicked on the link to find a website called Sartoria J . I know nothing about them except that they seem to provide Iplehouse with some of their clothes, and they are based in Seoul.(I have seen the pink dress done up in blue fabric for Iplehouse) and that there are clothes to fit Dollshe girls, which is something I have had trouble finding. They also have this goofy little 11cm anthro named Molly--this is sunburn Molly , who as a cat has the mysterious problem of being out in the sun too long :o She's still pretty adorable: And this is Gray Stripe Molly:

I love summer. These taste excellent; I am surprised the birds haven't eaten them all, but maybe they prefer the seeds in the feeder. I found a couple more fun costume books! The first one is a look at some of the historic men's clothing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which is beginning to have a world-class collection of Western costume. There are gorgeous photos of items in the collection, and some very good essays to go with them--it is a little annoying to read, because the clothes are grouped more by theme than by chronological order, and that bugs me--fashion is very organic, with one silhouette growing from the previous ones, so to really understand the context I think it's important to show things in the order they came--you can do insets or pairings of "historically inspired" items, but every period has it's own distinct branch on the family tree. It was nice to see some history of things like the "Aloha shirt"-- original...
