Found in a very weird bookstore in Aurora--not that the books were odd; but apparently no one had bought anything all day, so the staff was bored. The box that contained this was literally thrust into my hand when I said I was sort of looking for Tokidoki. Well, they weren't wrong-- this is what I was looking for (even though I didn't even know there was a mercorn in Series 4.)

I wish I had one like this for myself--the sharpie looks so good and the colors and shapes are so cute!(Not that I am biased or anything)

We went to Barnes and Noble yesterday, and we all got stuff typical of what we like--I got a pretentious art magazine, K got a P.G. Wodehouse book, and J got the Cooks Magazine Baking Guide. I also spotted a tiny, tiny box that looked just like the regular Tokidoki Unicorno box, but even smaller, and carried it over to Information to see if there was really a Unicorno inside the box. (I don't mind buying a pig in a poke, but I want there to be a pig in there). They are indeed Unicorno, but they are purse charms too, so they have a hoop and a lanyard. They are indeed tiny: "What is this thing?" Also, Stripey is enjoying having a house guest that brushes her as much as she likes. Here she is waiting, on the guest towels, for K to come with the brush..again..even though K is sound asleep and it's early in the morning.

Just in time for a Happy New Year (where the quokkas live it is already 2014) some photos, including this one from wildlife photographer Kevin Schafer Apparently quokkas do not like to get their feet wet! Schafer has a new book of photos (penguins, auroras) and it's easier to see info about it on his Facebook page (which seems more up to date than the website.) I had to do many, many tiresome things today, so I took a few minutes off and brought my Tokidoki unicorno outside. After taking photos of a 68 cm doll in an elaborate costume, the unicorno was easy. For one thing, it's tiny--small enough to have trouble navigating a very small patch of moss: And here the unicorno triumphantly scales a small rock by the pond: And finally, a bonus shot of my neighbor's Drama Shark. All that fine print are the warnings to idiot children (and adults) not to take the shark to sea, or use it as a life-saving device (really, if it's all you have, go for it) and of course the perennial favorite, No Unattended Use. (In case the shark gets peckish).

I have to say this is not "my" Tokidoki Unicorno. It is Bryan's. I bought one for my niece, too.:)

They aren't posable, they are absurd, and they are adorable. Junky Spot went out and bought some boxes of the Do It Yourself Unicornos (3 permanent markers, one unicorno). I would suggest spraying the unicorno and then using acrylic paint, so you can change your unicorno--at 18.99 before shipping, you want it to be reusable. And you see why I have a No Tinies rule here, or there would be multicolor unicornos everywhere. You can also do a Google Image Search of "Tokidoki Unicorno" and be amused.
