This deck totally exceeded my expectations. I bought it because it had on it's promos, "AS SEEN ON TV;" it had Miss Cleo (and all the candles from Sting's "Wrapped Around Your Finger" video on the box), and at 6.47 before shipping it is the cheapest Tarot deck that you can buy, undercutting even the knockoff Chinese decks. While Miss Cleo (born Youree Dell Harris in Los Angeles in 1962) is sadly no longer with us, and the Psychic Readers Network were sued into oblivion by the Attorney Generals of many, many states; the cards linger on. (I suspect somewhere in New Jersey there is an entire warehouse of these cards.) You will see this in the book--haha DON't DO IT BAYBEE: ( At one point the Psychic Readers Network was estimated to have 1 billion dollars in cash from these phone calls..at 3.99 a minute. Miss Cleo eventually settled for around 100 million .) The backs are pretty... and don't reveal when a card is reversed! Yes, J.F. ...

The title of the deck is a bit of a misnomer--it's just a regular Rider Waite with funky fun paintings and a really nice quality box and book (the book has *color* illustrations, which is unusual for these books). The titling font makes me laugh--there could have been an argument that the publisher wanted it all in caps, to match "Handbook"; but the font didn't fit at the point scale they wanted, so instead of going with another font, they did the Sarcasm Font from Twitter :D If you like dogs this is your deck. Dogs are everywhere. There are lots of wonderful portraits, many squirrels, and some serious pot production (lower right corner, the 7 of Pentacles): Every card has a full, glorious painting. This is my favorite: This guy is definitely getting the tea from those birds. I also like the knight of cups, riding his fishy steed (slippery!!): Though on the Two of Pentacles, I have to wonder what is in that bag.... :o I told you squirrels were...

If you are thinking of getting Royo's deck for a Halloween party, you might want to look through all the cards online first--it's definitely an R rated deck, and unless you go to much livelier parties than I do, you might just end up having it be "THAT Halloween party." If I know I am going to read cards for other people, I usually use the classic Rider-Waite or the Robin Wood deck I have, which is both pretty and easy to read; very non-threatening. Though probably the Ultimate Reassuring Deck has to be this one: The Royo deck is basically an art deck--it has images for all 78 cards, which I approve of, and some somewhat quirky associations of art and card (which makes sense since the art came first and then needed to be applied to the deck). The presentation of this deck has to be The Best Ever. It was a gift, so the look of the box made it even more fun, since I had no idea what was inside--it was the literal Black Box: The deck itself is plastic laminated, so you can shuffle it (carefully) and wipe off fingerprints as needed. I just like looking at it--the deck is a play on the Anima Mundi (Spirit of the World) title to be all animals: Card backs, and small booklet--the artist assumes you are familiar with the basics, so the book is brief. Card edges are metallic, sort of a pewter? I collect Tarot decks. I don't collect them in a snooty way, at auctions or even on Ebay; I buy them mostly at bookstores and I pick out ones that have art that I like. I don't really use them for readings. If for some reason I want to think about some decision and what my options are, I will pull out the old Rider Waite deck (which should be named the Pamela Coleman Smith deck, IMO), because with that one I have the iconography memorized, and I don't have to keep flipping through the book to see what a card is supposed to mean. Every now and then I will use the Amy Zerner/Monty Farber deck  because the art makes me happy and I can still figure out what each card corresponds to in the Coleman Smith deck :D So I have decks of Angel art, and cats, and Stephanie Pui Mun Law's art deck, and a Celtic Tarot deck  that I lost the book that goes with it (and I should google it and rebuy it, because it's a non standard deck and the book was a good read), and an Art Nove...

K likes big hangings to decorate her apartment--they fold up small when they aren't up, which is useful if you have a small space but like to have a lot of color and interest in it. So I found this at Matt Green Designs on Etsy and ordered it--it came in about a week and was even bigger than I expected (it's 80 inches tall). You can ask for any of the Rider-Waite cards in a variety of sizes. I liked the feel of this one--it's smooth, tightly woven fabric a bit like ripstop nylon, but softer to the touch than most printed fabrics, and looks like you can wash it in cold water by hand when needed. It folds up to about the size of a keyboard, too.
