Basically, Everyone on Sale

Image
All of Iplehouse Basics, that is. You more or less get the cost of EMS to North America with this sale. The prices of the SID and NYID girls are particularily tempting! While Iplehouse has a fast turnaround, your dolls won't be ready until February or March, depending on how popular the sale is--so keep that in mind! https://iplehouse.com/home/index.php?page_no=en_index&nhn1=en

Cats in Snow

Puss In Boots is Back!

Image
And he looks so good! He comes this time in NS or Bronze, and he has just the cat ears, the cat hands or jointed hands--or normal hands. IMO this is as much Cat as anyone needs on a doll, and he's painted so well! You can also get the normal eyes or the Romantic eyes: There is only 20 of the outfit, but it does include the hat and headband (but not the sword) https://gem.dollsoom.com/en/shop/puss-in-boots-outfit-le-qty-20/

Fairy Tarot Cards By Doreen Virtue

Image
I bought these because Aunt Doreen, as she was known in some tarot circles, always had the best art, and the art in this deck is really fun--it's a lot of romantic Victorian paintings clipped apart and reassembled with new painting by Howard David Johnson, and it looks great. As a tarot deck, it's ..kind of treacly. Now I have had other decks by Virtue, including Mermaids and Dolphins and the Goddess Guidance Cards, and they are unrelentingly upbeat and positive, and sometimes you need that.  But I have to say that fairies are..well, let's say traditionally they are not all sunshine and unicorn farts. Doreen Virtue herself has now become very Christian and says she plans to read all of the Bible from beginning to end, which is sort of...hmm. You have been making Angel cards since Jesus had a paper route and now you are going to pop open the Bible and read all of it? Anyway, I should not dunk on her because millions of people have used and enjoyed her cards, as a

Digital Doll

Image
I spent some time yesterday fooling around with face shapes on Poser's new default model, La Femme. I have trouble with her hands, but her head is a lot of fun. The skin was a RPublishing product called Alethea: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/lf-alethea-for-la-femme/139173 And the dress was also purchased there, as was the crystal . The crystal actually loads as large as she is, which I thought was a bit much :D I'm going to waste more time tomorrow playing with her!

Granado's Black Friday Sale and Galileo

Image
And Granado has a new guy on a new body! If you are tired of the buff muscle guys, there is a Zen  70 cm body that you can put Galileo on: https://doll-granado.com/mbody_zen (Photos are pretty Safe For Work) The Zen body is really tall and slim, it reminds me of the Doll Chateau bodies without the weird extra parts. There are jointed hands to match as well! Galileo is the model for the Zen body, but here is his head if you want to see it here: His promos on his sale page make him a Zen monk   but I think he'd make a nice dancer or a weedy scholar as well. He's very graceful!

Poserworld Reopens

Image
Poserworld was an online marketplace for poser-format models; when Smith Micro lost interest in Poser, it kind of kicked the stuffing out of a lot of side marketplaces for the add-on models. Renderosity bought Poser this year and immediately went about fixing a lot of things, updating it and added La Femme as the default figure that comes with the program.                                               (That is a prop scone from a tea set I have :D)  I use both Daz and Poser-- and I have to say I use Daz because the base program is free, and I already have a lot of the content; but in many ways Poser is a better, more stable program that runs in a cleaner, more compact way. I have a computer dedicated to Daz Studio because the damn thing wouldn't run on anything less than a Nvidia900 series card, and it would really like one of the Nvidia10 series. Poser runs fast and fine on a Win 7 machine that I have had for almost 7 years with whatever AMD card Costco felt like putting

Granado News

Dear VIPs, Today we welcome 2 new Asian guys.  They are V-09 and V-10! These 2 heads are made for our VIPs exclusively. V-09 and V-10 can be put in Male body Zen or Male Embody, if you want a whole doll, we can let you have a whole doll discount. ---------------------------------------------------------------- If you have bought from Granado before, you should have gotten this as an email; if you are a previous owner who has bought directly from Granado and did not get an email and want one (the limit is 2 heads), you should contact Granado directly (They have photos in the email of the heads) ---------------------------------------------- Right now I am waiting for Jane--people who ordered just her head got her pretty quickly, but Crocus Lee decided he needed to re-sculpt the feet on the new female embody, so I was told it would be another month or so. To be honest I hope it is after Christmas, because the Post Office gets so cray the entire mon

The Star Tarot by Cathy McClelland

Image
I totally bought this deck from Ebay for the art, but it's just a nice deck all around. It is a normal Waite/Coleman-Smith deck, but McClelland puts in some of the symbols from the Golden Dawn decks as well. It feels like a very North American deck, with bears and sunflowers and here and there some Native American motifs. And it's just SO PRETTY. It's published by Red Feather, a subsidiary of Schiffer Press, and it has OK quality card stock, pretty much the same weight that you find in "oracle decks," but nothing you want to shuffle normally. Or get wet. Like an oracle deck, the cards are wide. I like having the cards a bit larger,as there is a lot going on. I almost wish they were even larger to see some of the detail in the paintings. I found this deck when I was watching one of my favorite YouTube tarot explainers, Katie Flowers, take scissors to the deck to make the cards smaller. It sounds bonkers, but she has a few tips and tools

Souldoll Serena Returns Home

Image
I originally purchased her secondhand from Lelahel, and though she has a pretty faceup at the time, it wasn't right for me: So I sent her off to AngelToast , who I knew would do a beautiful job on her--AngelToast likes to do dramatic eyes and lips and that was what I wanted, and I knew my own painting would not do her justice. So I was so, so happy to see how perfect she is--it's nerve-wracking to trust a favored head to the mail, but the Post Office cooperated too! Serena did have an outfit, but her new faceup needs a slightly different color scheme, so she is in the kimono for now until I can make her something new. She needs real Souldoll shoes, too--Souldoll girls have big feet! This is the default--I like mine better, as her brows look more natural to me than the store version: Also, I love her new lips!! A big thank you to AngelToast!

Marzipan, Mittens and Budget Tarot

Image
My brother sent me these and it was very timely and appreciated, as we were caught by surprise by the sudden arctic chill here. We had to shovel snow before Thanksgiving-- and this was after having snow in *April*. I have found the perfect shoveling gloves--you can't wear regular gloves when it's in the teens, unless you wear mittens on top of them. I have a pair of beautiful hand-knit mittens but they are wool and not replaceable so for shoveling, I wear these. They dry fast and are machine washable: Flap in action: And since I was inside, and on the Internet, I saw that ...Target.com has tarot cards. In coloring book form, so I ordered them. The art is great! And uncredited BOO The paper is about as heavy as a birthday card, so you might want to laminate them; it's the full 78 cards-- and I think even with shipping it was 11.00? But now I am torn about using them, because this is one of those things that ends up being valuable, because who buys t

Dollpamm Unicorn

Image
Look at this cute thing! Cat found him-- I know nothing about Dollpamm except that they have been around for a while and they do a variety of sizes. I think this guy is like an msd size? Not huge. He's got some amazeballs wings too, if you go look at the site. I just got back my Serena head from Angel Toast!! And she is glorious--I will take photos tomorrow once the sun is back up. I almost never send my heads out, but in this case it was very much worth it!

The Sheepfish

Image
Huajing Doll, last seen putting out The Crab Monster , has now raided the sea for another specimen, the Sheepfish . Sophia the Sheepfish, in fact--the link goes to the "gold version": She is a medium-sized swimmer at 37.5 centimeters, and her tail is pretty cool! Here is the purple version: You can get a "normal version" too , unpainted? without the tail..?? .I think it's the human body they are selling, they are using the tail photos on this page, but here is the 44 cm body I think her torso fits on: http://www.acbjd.com/huajing-44cm-girl-body-veri-p-12759.html?cPath=829_830&zenid=4d5566bc5d74a7de844b30765964de4e I wish that doll companies would be careful to show EXACTLY what they are selling--Soom is a big offender in putting up old photos for things that have changed dramatically, and you have to comb through the wonky copy to try to figure out what you are ordering, or rather Not Getting. :p So if you want the no tail version you shoul

The Strange History of the Tarot and the Hoi Polloi Deck

Image
This is one of the best, most concise histories of Tarot that I have read: https://tarotluv.com/blog/strange-history-of-tarot/ And it has pictures! Look! coins, polo sticks (wands), cups and swords are already there. When my friend Andy came to visit, she brought me a deck of cards that were hers from the 1970's. And they were in great shape--not faded at all. Since they were already in a wooden box, I just kept them there, though oddly I had a chance to buy an original box online a few weeks ago. (I decided that the cards Andy gave me were fine as is in their box). It was the Hoi Polloi deck, and it has two neat little features--the first is that the designs from Coleman-Smith were simplified so the backgrounds were plain (making the cards more like the oldest card sets)  and there were included several "key" cards, so if you are not great at "randomly selecting" cards, you can shuffle the keys into the deck, and then go hunt for them an
