Cantigny Wallpaper

Image
On Saturday we went to Cantigny again--it wasn't quite as hot and there had even been some rain in the morning, so we thought maybe there would be flowers in bloom. And there were--as well as another wedding. I could have bagged another bride photo if I hadn't had a can of Pellegrino (Limonata) in one hand when I spotted her. Next time I will be more alert. Anyway, free wallpaper of the flowers (echinacea?) above is here: Echinacea 1200x900 here Here are some more: Mixed Border Wallpaper 1200x900 here Water Lily Wallpaper 1200x900 here Zinnia Wallpaper 1200x900 here (I think they were zinnias). If you don't like flowers, Cantigny also has a fountain you can play in, as long as you don't wear a bathing suit (?):

Decorating Tips for Fall

Image
From Bass Pro Shops..antler tips, apparently are the decorating hotness--the front of the store is covered with them, and yes, we went back there last week to buy doll hair, aka fly tying fur. Around here, Fu Bai the Sphaler is in fashion with his gold-tipped antlers:

Illusion final

Image
The (mostly) final cover for Dy Loveday's Illusion, sans text and a few small corrections. Hassan looks a lot different now!

Fur Wig

Image
Cat gave me some actual fur (fox, I think, from a 1980's stole)and some Camel (origin unknown, probably from a camel:) and I made Rain a wig that fits, though it's bulky. I still kind of like it. I loved working with the fur, as politically incorrect as it is--it's light, soft and easy to work with. And also politically incorrect, a map of Church Vs Beer: Tweets about Beer vs Church We're all about the beer here in this part of Chicago. (A still photo of a moving digital sign is odd--it looks like a demented cross-stitch project.)

Das Otterhaus

Image
Could there possibly be anyplace more fun than "Das Otterhaus"? I don't think so. (Swiped from the dailyotter.org site.) Then again, you could have gambler otters: (which are really big, ugly rubber lures in the shape of fat leeches, I have no idea why the maker calls them that).

Synchronicity

Image
My brother took this cool picture, about the same time I took this picture: Of course you can explain why someone would take a photo of a cool ceiling in the Metro, but I was just bored at the real estate office and looking at the ceiling.

Low Water

Image
The DuPage river in Naperville is so low and clear that you can see the fish. This is a bluegill--I had to up the contrast in Photoshop so you can see it's colors, so it's a little grainy. The river is surprisingly clean--I did see a phone and a blinker barricade, but mostly it's just stream bed, and here some carp: I suspect like everything else in Naperville, it gets cleaned. The ducks are everywhere, too, which makes it difficult for fishermen to fish. We could really use less ducks and more rain right now.
