Suri Alpaca Hair

Image
I think this is "Leah" and she donates suri alpaca fiber to her owner E. Brumwell ; the photo came in my Etsy order for some fiber I wanted to use to either make, or add onto, some doll wigs. I wasn't sure how much an ounce was, but it turns out to be just enough to make a reasonable size 8 wig if you don't do too much combing, or lots and lots if you want to fill in for a mohair wig. I have an Ebay mohair that I like a lot, but the front had a thin place, and the alpaca hair was the perfect color and texture to fill it in. It is super soft and a little staticky, so water helps a lot when you are trying to separate the locks--it's as soft as bunny hair: You can dye and braid it--I was combing it with a wide-toothed comb to get some of the tiny bits of hay out (it works better to use tweezers, actually), and it is a lot of careful, painstaking work. You aren't really saving money buying the suri fiber this way, you are just getting stuff that you can cus...

"I shake my little tush on the...cat walk!"

Image
Ok, this guy is totally adorable, but the cat ears and hands aren't part of the sales page package -- instead, they are sold separately for all your random cat characters! I really like the   Meow Hands.  And you can order male "toe up" feet . Also these cool "heel feet" that include the shoes, though I find the feet tend to slip out of the resin shoes and need poster tack to stay attached to the shoes. Outfit, eyes and wig are also available on the main page.

Iplehouse Doria on a Fantasia Body

Image
It looks GREAT. It's taller and leaner than the SID body that I had Doria on before, and I just like the body shape more--the SID is a competent poser, but there is something blocky about the lines of the Iplehouse design. The Fantasia body is a slightly less-sturdy poser-- but has a more aesthetic flow.  I am going to have to figure out shoes, though--those feet are large. :D Also my Oni girl was wearing one hand until yesterday, so the nails are still green--I need to fix that.

Trades: Fayette and a Feeple 65 body

Image
("Shh", Granado Fayette says, "I fit so much better on this Maiden body than Mercury's head did"). Mercury was intended for a Male/Female sculpt, and the end result for M/F heads is that the necks always gap on the female bodies. It wasn't too bad  with M/F heads on the older bodies because the Nuevo female has a big neck and the male 64cm and 68cm bodies had sort of normal-SD-sized necks, so it wasn't so noticeable. The Lads, and the new Evol and Embody bodies have MASSIVE necks-- so it's gotten pretty incompatible for switching. (sad face emoticon). Anyway, Tabitha is just as cute, and way more photogenic in her current form. Also since she is "small SD sized", like an old Luts Delf girl, there are a ton of clothes ready-made for her out there. This dress was very inexpensive and came with stockings, it was purchased from BlueBlood Doll , who I recommend highly. I like their acrylic eyes, too! I also swapped an Evol body for a Feep...

Sunday at the Flea Market

Image
Along with such Midwestern items as corn, and cow hides; you can buy quilts at the Kane County Flea Market.:D They are not hand-pieced and probably imported from India or China, but that makes them very affordable-- and I liked this one a lot :D The next time I go back I will budget for more for Christmas presents!  I did not buy the fishing net below, though I considered it--it's bigger than J usually uses and the net string felt a little brittle, but it was pretty: I did get him a stone--agate? Jasper? to use in making a box lid of some kind: It's about 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches. There was also a dragon, eating a "meal": It was such a nice day that  Akutenshi and I mostly just wandered around, looking at stuff, and then afterward we went to the "All Chocolate Cafe" in Geneva, which has giant chocolate sculptures; including a tree in the center of the store, made from 1000 pounds plus of chocolate. I'm not sure that is the best use o...

Anita's Flickr

Image
Anita's Soom Nephelin  Anita in Iowa (AnitaS on Den of Angels) has such a nice Flickr--I go occasionally and flip through it when I should be ironing or mopping floors, and it's so enjoyable--I think she does many of the faceups and most of the clothes. Also she is selling this Souldoll Karin on Den of Angels and right now the price is 400 plus shipping; which is crazy great for a tan Souldoll Zenith , whose base price is 600 before you add the faceup-- and the tan was limited. (You do need to be a Den of Angels member to see this listing, though it is on her Flickr as well.) Souldoll Karin
