Box From Australia
I occasionally buy dolls from Australia--it's never a problem, except for the punishing postage fees, and it's usually about 2 weeks. This box, possibly delivered by crocodile, took only a week. Thavron (her first owner) is fly to the ways of the post, and wrapped everything very, very carefully:
And after some unwrapping, here is her head!
This is the Soom Snow White (the Shadow, human version in a rosy gray). She came with extra hands and one-piece heel feet; which I would have put on, but the elastic was already cut to fit on the conventional legs so I was lazy and just put those on instead when I assembled her. I noticed that the hip/pelvis hole was drilled large enough to fit the knot through on this body, so stringing the legs was a lot easier--this girl also had the wonderful Easy Pose pieces. It's a wonderful body in so many ways, and this particular one was well-cast, too. Here she is with a Withdoll Angela ("Rosy Brown", which is mostly gray in person) and an older 2009 Galena Monthly Doll in a pale, more bluish gray:
You can see the color difference between the pinky-gray of the Snow White heel leg sitting on the Galena's lap. I would say in this photo, the heads look the most like the "true" colors of each, though the camera washed out most of the items towards the bottom of the photo. Here is a close-up of the heel leg:
Here is just a random photo of Shalimar, the Galena, since I had her out anyway:
Both Snow White (Ashley) and Shalimar once had the same owner, and I am grateful she was willing to pass them along to new owners. I rarely have enough money in hand to buy a doll when it's first released from Soom, so I depend on people rotating their collections for me to get the sculpts I want. For some reason I just like pre-loved dolls more anyway! Here is Ashley all strung together--alas her wig is too small, but I will make her a new one:
Now I just really need some weather above 40 F-- it was 20F last night. I am not sure my tulips are going to bloom at all, and I still have siding with primer and no paint on one side of my house!

Congratulations! I'm so sad I missed out on Snow White, she's lovely in gray and I can't wait to see how you paint her!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Not to be an enabler, but Wesley is selling the fantasy version w/ human head and fullset outfit on DoA:D I looked at that one for a long time, but decided I would do more with the human version, though I love her little hooves. I always miss the releases when they first come out, so I just wait, and eventually they will show up. It did take me almost 4 years to find a Galena, though; but that just makes her more special.
ReplyDeleteXD I totally enjoy your enabling! ;) Sadly I don't have any other fantasy dolls so I don't think the faun legged lady would fit in. Maybe Soom will put Snow White her in the Christmas free choice thing again and I can split off her head? Fingers crossed! ;) But yeah, she seems not to have been popular when she first came out so there's hardly any pictures of her! ;) You'll have to spam her lots!
DeleteI hope they do--she is so pretty! I think she would look lovely in tawny or NS too!
DeleteCongrats!!! I love snow white sculpt~ She's one of the prettiest release from soom from newer collections
ReplyDeleteThank you! I just hope I can paint her as nicely as she is sculpted :o
