Lego Elves

Image
K has been entertaining herself here by building Lego elf sets--there are 4 elves and they have various things including a Magic Bakery for the Fire elf, and while K said that one "spoke to her," we decided to get the ship, because it came with two elves. The elves themselves are about two inches high and built like 2 inch tall, very satisfactory Polly Pockets, with detachable rubbery hair in fun colors. The set that comes with the guy elf is a crystal observatory/laboratory/I have no idea, but it comes with a squirrel and an acorn catapult (that sort of works). It says ages 7 and up-- but even K struggled with the ship, and finally settled for some pieces of the steering gear left off, since she didn't want to pull it all apart to get them in correctly. I am sure magic can steer the ship fine, even without the gears and bits. Everything is really cute once it's assembled. I'm always put off by the actual lego parts, but I love the figures.

Lelahel's Website

Image
Lelahel has reorganized her website recently--I knew she had an Etsy store but I did not know she had a website showcasing her doll outfits and faceup services. It's a lot of fun to visit, and the clothes are beautiful. I missed a recent ebay auction of one of her pieces (a steampunk set) and I was sad that I missed the bidding. But at least you can go look and see the clothes that Lelahel created, in an artistic set of photos. Here is the URL: http://www.lelahel.net/ Also you can see her dolls, which she painted herself!

Toto Arrives!

Image
He came in a beautifully presented box, too! Also in a delicate mesh bag: Side view with 16mm Glib eyes--the round glass eyes I had didn't quite fit (too tall) but these Glibs are more torpedo-shaped so they were fine. Here he is on a Granado 64cm body in WS: Surprisingly he fits on the Iplehouse female NYID body, which makes me think that he would go on a Male NYID body since there was still room around the neckhole. I don't have a boy NYID here to test, though. Those green eyes are 14mm and they are a bit small--the half rounds are ok even in his extended eye, but the eye itelf gaps around the edges. And the winner of the body contest is... ... The Granado Terra body! So cute!

Strawberry Cake

Image
K and I went off to have fun at Akutenshi7's house,(so much fun, and Akutenshi amazed me with a bag of gorgeous wigs, a hat, AND A PAIR OF SHOES and boots :o. Thank you again!!) And J stayed home and baked a cake; basically a strawberry trifle, but less wet. Here he is just before putting it in the refrigerator,so it could set and chill for a while Unwrapping it: Getting out a slice: (harder than it looks) And a piece of cake! I'm not sure any of this cake will be taken by J to work this week...

The Granado Male Bodies together

Image
From left to right, Julian, Granado Fabio on the 68 cm Long Leg Body, William (Guilem) on the old 64 cm Body in White Skin, and Teodor, Granado Mads on the Granado Nuevo body. William is a bit kicky, so I had him sit down while I put up the Lads body, which will eventually have Pancho's head on it: All of them are wonderful bodies, but I think Julian's, the Long Leg 68, is my favorite. The Lads is definitely the best poser, though!

Iplehouse Vera (a fashion designer!)

Image
Iplehouse is gearing up for Round Two of the Carved Heritage series; this year it's all the people the core group from last year (Bliss, etc) meet on their travels. Miss Vera apparently is a fashionable little thing, being a "designer by trade" and she has a fabulous dress in development to match her pretty face: I think she will be really fun when she is complete--Iplehouse seems to have a new faceup artist who is amazing as well, so the end result should be delightful.

An Impldoll New Star Male Body and an Iplehouse SID body

Image
For those of you who have rolling Iplehouse heads and no bodies to put them on, may I suggest Impldoll's upgraded Star Body? This is not the EID sized Idol body, but a smaller sized body that is pretty close to the SID size. A Iplehouse Bane head or a Lee head would work pretty well. The Impldoll neck is quite forgiving of all sizes as it tapers inward and not outward (Iplehouse necks are mushroom-shaped): The posing is pretty good on both--Gideon, my Impldoll, suffers from wanting to cross his legs because of his internal hip cross-stringing, and he also has small, slippery feets: I suspect those are the original Star body feet, who was smaller all around (I have a couple of the older Star bodies, they are fabulous if not terribly handsome ) The new Impldoll Star body has only two parts, the lower and upper torso, there is no waist joint: This joint is the same on both the SID and the Star body, though the edges are designed differently and the SID moves more easily than the ...
