Impldoll Girls All In A Row

Image
I don't know if this would be useful for someone, but here is an Impldoll Delia on the Old Star Body, an Impldoll Deborah on a New Star Body, and an Impldoll Azalea on the Idol body. The Delia is Dark Tan, Deborah is White, and Azalea is Realskin (not the UV cut).

The Art of Cardboard

Image
It's a book by Lori Zimmer and it is so much fun--it is a mix of amazing art and artists, and some fun goofy projects you can do yourself in the back. I bought it because I wanted to see how to handle the edges of cardboard--I made a sort-of-sculpture for the Granado photo contest last year, and I wasn't satisfied with the finished edges of the piece, and I want to make a 20 inch tall Dutch tavern fireplace, with a mantel, and have it light enough to tape to the cardboard tavern "wall". It turns out that cardboard has it's own distinctive look, no matter what artist is using it--rough paper edges, bends in place you don't want and has straight edges where you want curves. I like using it, though--maybe because it handles a lot like polygons in the computer do, with some of the same limitations. (Polygons are less flammable to store, though). Anyway, the book is put out by Rockport Publishers and you can get it at Amazon . Speaking of Amazon, one of my rela...

Garnet Sale

Image
After a lot of dithering, I listed my Garnet head on Den of Angels--I would like to get a body for Neptune soon while Granado still has the matching resin and the molds for the Evol are still ok, and that means someone here has to be the patron of Neptune's body. While I think Garnet is gorgeous, I was a little disappointed to discover she was actually the Vesuvia mold, redone; especially since the new body Cyborg is a little smaller and more compact than the larger old body Vesuvia was designed to go on. I hesitated for a while too, thinking I didn't want to break up the set; but I did buy the body and head separately (the body I have is from the Free Choice, not the original Borg) and the resin between Garnet's head and the cyborg isn't a perfect match. It does match my Breccia head perfectly in size and color. If no one buys her, I will be glad to keep her, but of the two "Vesuvia" heads here, there is one that is my clear favorite--and that is Selket: ...

Neptune

Image
Neptune's head is here at last! He spent six days in Customs at O'Hare, I think because the box was not marked Granado anywhere, and the shipper did not sign the customs form (plz sign the customs forms, people). I sent an email to USPS customer service yesterday, explaining what was in the box and where it was made; and with no email reply, the box was sent directly to my local Post Office yesterday, possibly because they felt that a doll head wasn't worth any further examination. (The full size Granado boxes I get fly through ISC in less than 24 hours usually, but they are trademarked and distinctive.) So here he is! He is indeed too large for the 68 granado body Jo sent me, but I was expecting that, and I have another head I plan to put on that body. Such a beautiful head! The neck hole is enormous, here is a Luts Donut sitting inside the neckhole, for scale: Here is his profile--even the top of his head is interesting, he's also a headcap doll head instead of a ...

Workspace

Among other things, today I made a rickety bench for my Granado boys to sit on. There is plenty of raw material from leftovers from the woodshop, but I can't use the shop itself--first of all it is set up for J and I don't go in there (I have trouble even finding the power switches in there). I went in this morning to borrow a chisel and discovered that the skunk, which is normally a little stinky and lives under the raised side of the shop, had sprayed somewhere in his hole-- and the concentration of skunk smell was enough to make my eyes water. So I left the chisel where it was on the rack and went back outside. I have my own tools in the house, and normally I would use them on the sun porch; but the sun porch is about 22 degreesF now during the day, and the big table in there is covered with the parts of a blanket chest J is working on-- and there really isn't any place to move them (also they are clamped and drying, so I didn't want to touch them. I didn't w...

Granado on a Soom Body

Image
Please pardon the flyaways-- Snowy on Den of Angels wanted to do a Gabe hybrid, so I posted pics of Ereshkigal for her to get an idea of the size and look of the Gabe head on a Soom Super Gem (the old body). There is a small amount of neck gapping: But overall the proportions are good. Here is a full-length picture: And a head measurement for wig size (I like 8's myself, this black wig is a 9, I think--I need to make one for her that fits. The rest of the day was working on something that isn't mine, so I can't post it here, and starting work on something for Granado's future photo contest, assuming I can fit it into whatever theme they choose. So for no reason here is a squirrel photo:

Various Odd Discoveries

Image
This is just a hat, frozen to the ground near Costco--no one has been mowing, it's just a Halloween hat, so no one has tried to pry it up, and being frozen down has kept it from blowing away. It looks like a leprechaun dropped it: And there it sits. Discovered at Target--exotic Peeps: J though these were highly disgusting, I was kind of curious, but I didn't buy them--I adore marshmallows, but I don't like the gritty feel of peeps--they seem to me like what happens when you toast marshmallows at the beach and drop one. A chocolate coating might help, but I wasn't willing to pay money to find out. And finally, Krowbar found Ital the Ice Lord's missing human arm and paperwork, and sent them to me, all the way from the UK! Woot!
