Snake vs Pollifrog
J was out looking at the pond and I came out to see what he was looking at. He said "There is a snake in the pond." And sure enough, one of the ribbon snakes had caught a pollifrog, and while we watched, left the pond with it. At least that explains why the polliwog numbers went down. We do still have at least one frog, though. And a large ribbon snake. Maybe I should just go get some feeder goldfish. :o
Nature sucks some times. But if you'd had fish, he'd get the fish, as well. And you're going to have more snakes because this one is so well fed now, I bet. *shudders*
ReplyDeleteI was told to go buy minnows to keep both the snakes and the frogs happy. I'm just waiting for the cat to bring the snake in again like last year (we do have more than one, they eat baby mice, which is good--I just have to watch when I mow not to hit them).
