Water Falls

I am a bad person--when the dam managers at the Oroville Dam were struggling mightily to keep water from escaping the spillways, I was peering at all the footage and going "OOOO PRETTY". I'm glad it seems to be under control now.

"Look a rainbow!" (Aren't you glad I don't work there?)

    1. Acrylic is great--you can erase with rubbing alcohol! Also since I tend to lean on my paintings it keeps me from smearing paint, since the acrylic dries fast. I love oils but I get them on everything :o

  2. (I JUST discovered "notify" :p). Didn't know that about rubbing alcohol! That's great info - will have to try! For me, it's hard to put fluidity and life in acrylic and everything turns out flat - tho that's not always bad :)

    1. Acrylics really benefit from lots and lots of transparent layers--the more you put on, the better it looks (the opposite of oils). Just use polymer medium to thin them instead of water (I like Golden Polymer Medium) and flow releaser if you like them thin, or the thinner liquid goldens if you are doing small details. And just resign yourself to chucking out brushes after a couple of paintings--even if you clean your brushes with alcohol, they get brittle from the acrylic paint.

  3. Thanks for the tips! Sometimes I think a formal materials and technique continuing ed class would be cool. So many things to learn and try! :)

    1. I used to go to lots of SF conventions and go to any kind of class they had! It was such a fun and inspiring way to learn!(And included with admission).
