Speed painting

I need a background for a doll photoshoot, so I needed something about 2 by 3 feet in size; and I don't have much time--I allowed myself 4 hours today to bang out something between other projects, and this is as far as it got today. Here is what it looked like at around 2 PM:

And here is the original reference, "An Action off Haiti, 1757" I think snagged from the Greenwich Naval museum online...they have a ...boatload..of paintings there.

Still a lot to paint tomorrow.

And now I have to go back to real work!
