A Really Fun Food History Blog
(This cake is actually Royal cake-maker Fiona Cairns's cake from the current jubilee, but if you go here you can see the 1887 Jubilee cake made for Queen Victoria, and a lot of the other foods for the festivities.)
I found the Food History Jottings blog by accident, after clicking on a small ledger image that had "235,000 barrels of beer" next to my surname, so I had to look :D Here is an engraving by J.M. Nugent with a child limited to "only one slice" of Jubilee Cake.
I'm probably going to spend most of the afternoon reading about food history since this cold is making me useless for work, though I still have to do laundry.
