The Ark of the Covenant

It's actually a blanket chest that J is working on; it's almost done. It's very large, which is good because we have a lot of blankets that need summer storage. J just says we "just need to avert our eyes when we take out a blanket." I want to put a couple of dolls on the lid for a photoshoot, dressed as angels :)

  1. YOu must! OMG I have to watch the movie again. That was the scariest thing I had ever seen in a movie at the time.

  2. Hello,
sorry for bothering you, but may I ask you for an advice? I'm this person who was ordered an Impldoll Azalea and who commented your posts some time ago.
So, I've got her today and I'm nearly my breaking point because I don't know - Jesus Christ, what's whith this doll?
The doll I've received is unable to lift her both legs AT ALL - she can't bent the legs in the hip joints AT ALL. And she can't bent her legs in the knee joints AT ALL. So, she's able ONLY to stand and ONLY to lie in the box!
You know, the only thing I want now is to sit and cry. I want to cry over almost 500 USD I spent for the useless doll. I don't know what's with her? Maybe she needs to re-string her, but I won't do it for sure! And here, in my country, I know only one person who collects bjds, I'm not taking part in meets, or sth, so I know only this one person.
I have no idea what to do now.
I'm just nearly my breaking point because of this Azalea doll.

    1. Is she super tight? (Ishtar is that you?) That really sounds like the string is in there way too tight--if you can pull out a foot, slip in a length of ribbon and then carefully let the string slide up into the leg while the ends of the ribbon stay outside of the leg, and then take off the foot. That should give you enough slack to see if you can bend the leg and the knee, and if you can, it's because the elastic is either too short or jammed up above the crossover point in the hips. Write to me on Den of Angels, that way we can at least share pix; I'm fishcake there too.

    2. Thank you for the fast reply and for the advice (BTW, I'm not Ishtar, I'm Plushdevil^^ and I'm not on DoA)
So, I did what you said and - gah! - I still wasn't able to bend her legs in the hip joints. The knee was able to bend a little, but when the right one was bending, I heard some dangerous noise - and yes, a part od resin chipped of her knee joint. But thanks Lord it chipped inside, not outside.
I just talked with someone, it's our local artist and she said she will help me to re-string her or do whatever is necessary to do to make her sit. After this "chipping" accident I'm afraid to do anything to her, and today I'll send her to this artist. I hope she will help my girl...
Thank you so much for the answer and for being so helpful, I hope all this mess will end soon!

  3. That can't be right--take some photos of how the knees look and the inside of the hips, especially if you are restringing her--it sounds like she wasn't drilled out properly. Whatever a mess Impldoll can be in casting dolls, they have really nice customer service and if the resin is bad or it's finished poorly, they should replace parts if you can show them photos. I'm sorry she is so disappointing! Ishtar is on Den of Angels and while I haven't talked to her, I noticed she listed her Azalea as soon as she received her--a sure sign of some kind of trouble; her and your Azalea may have been cast at the same time.

  4. I talkd with Impldoll again and they asked me for photos, so I'm going to take them today or tomorrow. I've never saw sth like this - doll can only stand and lie down, but it's completely impossible to sit for her. It is dissapointing... and the same said person I talked about this problem before on flickr, and I just send a message to another Impldoll doll owner (msd size doll) who told me that... her doll can only stand and lie down, too. Incredible!

    1. I had problems with my Deborah like that--the knee channels are too small, so the elastic won't slide through them easily--I wonder if that is what is happening the these other dolls? Hopefully your photos will help solve the mystery!

    2. So, I only made the photos showing how far my doll can bent her legs - and she almost can't do that at all. I was too afraid to pull for showing how does it look inside because it's so incredibly tight and I was afraid that there will be some problems with chipped resin again. For now, my doll is packed and tomorrow I'll send her to a person who agreed to restring her or whatever. BTW, may I have a request? Since many hours I can't connect to flickr, co I'm unable to answer person called Chalyss who was trying to help me, too. And I'm not on DoA, so I'm unable to send her a message via doA. Could you kindly write her a message on DoA in my name? My nickname is Plushdevil, tell her, please that I found a person who will restring my poor Azalea for me and my doll will be send to this person tomorrow. And I'll answer Chalyss to her message on flickr as soon as I'll be able connect to flickr. Sorry for bothering you with this request, but I'm unable to contact with Chalyss and she's very kind person. Thank you^^

    4. Chalyss is the best! and she has handled and reworked a lot of dolls too, so she has a lot of knowlege of how to make things work right. I hope your doll just needs a bit of drilling and restringing! <3

    5. Could you share any photos that you get once the doll is taken apart? I'd love to see what is going on inside the knees and the hips, since I am sure you are not the only one that is having these problems--it would be great to share any fixes that your friend makes to the doll!
