Hausermann's Orchid Greenhouses

And look a BLACK orchid..though it looks reddish here:

Akutenshi7 took me over there to check out the orchids (they smell incredibly wonderful too), and she brought her little Nanyalin Fairy to pose with some of the orchids. The fairy is so cute--I love the Oscar eyes in her, too!

I need to get my brother up here to see this place, though I will need to bring a book and maybe a large styrofoam cooler to get his plants home in. And yes, I bought a small orchid with interesting leaves, since they don't bloom for me (I am a bad orchid mom).

  1. You're not a bad orchid mom! Your house just doesn't have the right light. So there.

    1. and I forget to water them AND I think I have remembered to fertilize them...once. Its also pretty cold in here, around 65 F, and dry. Its amazing they are still alive, really!

  2. The orchid photos are wonderful. I love orchids and if you get the right ones, very easy to grow. I have one that is 5 years old (came from Trader Joes) - add ice cubes to it once a week and it blooms for 5-6 months of each year.
Fish, had not checked your blog for a long time and had hoped to see photos of your kitchen completed. No photos. :(

    1. I thought I had put up some pix--mostly there is a smaller fridge there and it's a bit cleaner, though I still need to repaint behind it (we couldn't decide if it should be yellow or white, though I think white will will) and I need to put doors on under the stove eventually. And get a new countertop :D
here's the new fridge--just picture the wall the same color just no weird spots, because that is how it is!

  3. Thanks Fish, - I love your eating area looking over the back yard and also your choice of color. Did you ever find ice cube trays?

    1. I did! I found them at the dollar store, of all places! K is the only one who uses ice so we needed some before she came to visit. Now the ice maker is holding frozen cherries :D
I can't take credit for the color--the lady who lived here before me had excellent taste in colors, though I have lightened up the living room from beige to cream white for more light. (She came home tired from work and wanted it sort of cozy and dim). I need all the light I can get for crafts and plants.
